The iPhone Thread
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadgets-computers-software/38465-iphone-thread-1071.html)
Has anyone got an iPhone '15 Pro Max' from US into India, in the recent past? Had seen few years back B'lore customs looking particularly for new iPhones of arriving passengers.
Please share your experience.

On this note, I would like to know if at all there's any "life" per se for a good screen guard? My 3 years old 12 Pro is on it's 1st screen guard (Spigen) which thankfully hasn't had any major cracks after 4-5 drops and is perfectly fine. ofcourse the original screen guard's smoothness isn't quite there now, but it does the job.
But is there really anything as such to replace a screen guard after certain time or so?
P. S.: The Spigen screen guard had come in a pack of 2; the second one is still lying unused.

I think you can use the same as long as you are comfortable with it. But in my case I change every 6-7 months because of the number of scratches it accumulates and also to clean up the speaker that gets hidden behind the guard.

Don't think there should be issues as long as you are not carrying it in a box. I got mine recently from my travel abroad and no questions asked.

I'm carrying :
1. 15 Promax
2. 15 Pro
Should I take these brand new phones out of the box and carry it in person?
Which airport did you land and did you just walk out through the "Green Channel"?

Yes, the products must be unboxed and carried by you in person. In that case, you can safely walk out through the Green Channel. That’s what I’ve done all these years while coming back to Mumbai from abroad while carrying phones/watches.
Iphone 15 plus in blue color which gives a look of more off white. The in hand feel is awesome.
I am so glad I didn't get the 14 plus and opted for this. This literally feels like an upgrade over Iphone 13.
Bought it from Apple Saket store yesterday. It was jam packed. Reached at 5 pm. Had to take an appointment at 5.30pm. The guy who attended was super helpful. Traded in my 13. As my iPhone 13 was always in an Armored case it still looked brand new. They had stopped doing iphone to iphone data transfer due to various issues with customers. So had to do it from iCloud backup when I got home. Took sometime although the data was only 60 Gb. Didn't get the Apple case as for 4999 the quality didn't feel worth it. Will get the spigen or Ringke one.
Did a quick comparison with 15 pro max while I was waiting. Only 2 things were missing. Telephoto lens and pro motion. Both doesn't matter to me in my usage. Display is identical and no one can pick which is plus and pro. Battery life already feels amazing but will test to see how much screen on time I can get. All in all its a very good upgrade.
Price - 90k minus 5k hdfc discount minus 29k trade in for iphone 13 so costed approx 56k out of pocket.
Had a very strange experience with my 2.5 year old iphone 12.
I went to bed last night after charging my phone, i’m quite sure the phone had something like 85-90-% charge at around 11pm. However, at 6:30am this morning i woke up to find my phone switched off with no battery. I actually make sure that all applications are closed post usage each time and thats a habit by default. But when i checked the battery usage, “NDTV” app had been using the phone in the background for 6.5 hours! And that’s led to the battery drain. Now, in the “background app refresh” settings, i have disabled “NDTV” app from refreshing in the background, so all the more puzzling as to how this app was running in the background. And this app is not like a video based app or something that uses up battery, its just a news application.
Anyway, i called Apple customer care and they ran their diagnostics, they think there is an issue with my battery. Although the battery health shows “87%”, the customer care executive mentioned that i have crossed some 900+ charging cycles and in an ideal scenario my battery health should have been way lower. I mean, 900 charging cycles for a 2.5 year old phone, does it seem abnormal? I have this habit of plugging in the phone in the charger at my office desk, but I normally dont do it when the phone is 60-70% charged. Have i been guilty of charging the phone when not necessary?
I have been an iPhone user for the last 12 years, and this is the 1st such instance i have come across.
Anyway, the customer care executive asked me to update the ios version to 17.1.1, I’m on 17.0.3, so not sure if its going to make any difference.
I checked on the possibility of changing the battery, it looks like its going to cost 9k, not really worth it considering my phone wouldn’t fetch me more than 20-25k now. Either i have to live with this for sometime or upgrade to iphone 14 or 15.

From the last screenshot I can see the NDTV app being used as a widget. This would be present on the one of your homescreen. Unless that is a must for you, please try removing the widget. For reading the news you can simply go in the app and then read/watch it.
Try doing the above and check if the phone battery behaves the same way.

Actually, no, i dont have any widgets! I have resisted adding needless widgets which reduce battery life. I was surprised as well when i saw that NDTV app was part of a widget. Anyway, i have now deleted the NDTV app. Earlier I noticed that this app kept using up more storage, by the day, and now this background activity which I didn’t actually allow.

Wow! Didn't know if that can happen too.
Also, to find your charging cycles you can refer my earlier
post.
Here is the stuff that was purchased contributing to the "coffers" of Tim Cook.
1. Apple AirPods Max
2. iPhone 15 Promax
3. iPhone 15 Pro
I sincerely hope I don't become a target of the Airport Customs team. :D

You can setup an automation that switches on the low power mode as soon as the battery drops below a threshold (I have it set at 50%). Low power mode restricts background activity, so in a situation like this, you won’t have a completely discharged phone.

Battery life is better than I expected. I am a heavy user and it still exceeded my expectations.
Charged it to 100% at 8.40 AM. At 9.23 PM it had a Screen on time of 10h 35m with 27% battery still available to use. Easy to say it may go upto 13-14 Hours of screen on time. That's brilliant. Attaching screenshot for reference.

Battery life of the 15 Plus is easily the best among 15 range. The Pro Max is good, but doesn’t stay as long as the 15 Plus. The screen refresh rate will be a noticeable difference only for those who move from a Pro model (or other flagships) to a regular 15. Even that is more like a matter of getting used to. My daughter was complaining about screen glitching for the first few days but now it is barely noticeable. If that zoom lens is not that important, I will easily recommend the 15 Plus above the Pro/Pro Max.
