The key differences are what you have listed. Considering that you prefer smaller phones, I would suggest going with the 15 Pro 256 GB variant. The 5x zoom on the Max is nice, but the 3x on the regular Pro is sufficient in most cases (my wife prefers the 3x portraits from her 14 Pro Max, compared to the 5x in the latest Pro Max). And in the new iteration, the 15 Pro feels much lighter to hold.
Been using the 14 Pro Max since Jan, and finally the battery health fell to 98% yesterday. It was 100% till as recently as 3-4 days back. I am still on ios 16.

Thanks a lot Bro.
Quick one.
What is your opinion of the image quality differences between the 3X and 5X for long shots and for macro close-up photos?
This will help me a lot in making my decision.
As you know, I use only my iPhone for all my photography.

No differences for macro clicks, main camera, and the ultra-wide. Image quality also will be similar on both. Personally I liked the implementation of the 5x in the Pro Max - to get close-up shots without getting closer. A sample below, clicked from sitting in the same location - first is with the 3x telephoto in the 14 Pro Max, and the second is with the 5x of 15 Pro Max.

May I know how did you identify the charging cycles count.

You can find it by doing the following:-
Go to
Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements -> Analytics Data -> Analytics File of a particular date would be present (Ex. Analytics-2023-10-05-012402.ips.ca)
- Click on that file and open it.
- Now select all the text on the file and paste it on your
Notes app.
- Now by using
Find on Note type this
‘last_value_CycleCount’
You will find a numerical value in front of it. That is the value of Cycles.
My iPhone 13 Pro Max is 2 years old now and has completed 610 Cycles and has 87% Battery Health.

Thanks!
I happened to go and see the 15 Pro. The Brushed Titanium Case looks so stylish almost like a worn-Gunmetal Finish.
And the bloke at the counter showed me the difference in resolution between my 12 Pro Max, the 15 Pro and the 15 Pro Max. It is like a Heaven and Earth difference!
So like someone else had shared earlier as an answer to my question, once youre on a Pro Max it is very hard to go back to a plain Pro.
Compared with US, AU, SG, TH, DXB prices the India pricing is usuriously wicked.
The Apple shop here in Bangalore said I can exchange multiple devices for the new Pro Max 15. They will give a max of 30K for my iPhone Pro Max 12 and 28K for my iPhone 13 Mini. Plus there is a 5K off on HDFC card. The price of this iPhone 15 Pro Max is 1.6 lakh rupees. So I may get 63 K off with these exchanges and discounts.
And that means I pay 97K!

Stupid question but what is the best way/ best cable to connect the iPhone 15 to a car with regular USB port for CarPlay?
For eg - 2022 i20 doesn't have type C but has CarPlay

You can use CarPlay wirelessly via Bluetooth ie connecting your iPhone and the Car Multimedia System or purchase a new USB wire specifically for using in car for wired CarPlay. The wireless one usually works seamlessly.

That’s surprising, mine was at 93% at 613 cycles, it’s also 2 years old and currently at 800 cycles and 90% health. Try using an ice pack while charging (I use MagSafe exclusively), really eliminates the overheating which prematurely ages the cells.

Not really, Apple hasn’t increased iPhone prices for over 6 years now, if you consider the USD-INR exchange rate in Sept 2021 with today the rupee has lost precisely 13% of purchasing power (73 bucks vs 83 today). This is exactly the price increase we’ve seen for the 512gb pro max variant launched last month vs the pricing 2 years ago (1.8L vs 1.6L back then), you’re still paying the same $2200 for it as you did in 2021. It’s about $1500 depending on state taxes in the US for the exact same variant.
Their sales taxes are in the single digits with most states being under 7-8%, here it’s over twice that, now add in all the import duties on top and you have the crazy pricing we pay here. Apple makes the same amount give or take, it’s the government who’s the real thief.
Same deal with cars, we pay $64k over here for the same $30k Camry hybrid sold over there.

I initially began using 15W MagSafe wireless charger for starting ~2 months but it heated the phone a lot so switched to the 20W Wired one. The reason of the battery health being so low is that I had turned off the
Optimised Battery Charging for ~7 months which led to significant battery health drop. Since turning it on it has not dropped much.

I would then suggest to stick with your XR for another year. Next year, go for the 15 plus or higher as per your budget. |

The 13 & 14 are nearly identical and aren't quite different to say. The 15 on the other hand looks visually different with the dynamic island and stuff. The chip too is advanced and you'll have a newer device with more promised updates. :) |
Yesterday, I was casually checking Flipkart and Amazon both for their offers.
Flipkart had the Blue Iphone 14, 128GB in stock, and they offered me a buyback of Rs 13,700 for my 4 years old 64GB XR which seemed to be a good deal. So went ahead for the 14 itself. Ordered the phone as soon as the sale started, and I received the phone on the same day evening.
In total I had to roughly shell out around Rs 41,500 with the exchange which I was okay with.
Took a couple of pics of the 14 with my 4S! I stopped using the 4S in 2020 itself, but never exchanged that phone. I still love the feel and the build of the 4s.

Congrats!
What was the deal price listed during sale. They advertised with 4XXXX as sale price and anyone able to get it cheaper?
It still being listed for 56999 in Flipkart, but the card offers are not that attractive. I am on the fence and yet to make up my mind to go for it.

You dont actually have to do this. There is a shortcut which you can enable. Couple of pages back the shortcut is also posted.
AJ56 had posted in post number 15632
EDIT: Just realized that the link to shortcut is not working. I still have that working on my phone though.

Nothing quite like the 4S for sure.
It was a beautiful design and is still timeless.
Like a Porsche 911, Jaguar E Type, Willys Jeep, Lad Rover Defender, etc.
It should one day, be displayed as a design icon at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. Indeed they have displayed the Willys Jeep and the Jag E Type at different points of time in the past. I saw the Jag E Type there in 2015 or so. The iPhone 4S definitely deserves this honour.
