Hi Team,

My sister is planning to buy iPhone 14 (256GB) as a replacement for her current iPhone X (64GB). Does it make sense to buy an iPhone 14 at current prices? Should we wait for Apple to announce iPhone 15 so that we can get iPhone 14 at a much attractive price later? I am not sure if the price of iPhone 14 will fall materially post the launch of the new iPhone?

Like Athek said wait for BBD.
If you are lucky you can even land it for 50-55k range like it happened with iPhone 13 last year.

I love the form factor of SE, don't want to go back to using 6 inch sized phones. Confused whether I should just change the battery for the quoted 6500INR, or carry a cheap power bank and upgrade to 13mini sometime later.

It’s better to replace the battery for now and think about an upgrade later. Once the battery drops to that level the phone has an issue of random shutdowns and reboots. I’ve faced this in the past with a faulty battery which led to the logic board of the phone getting shorted.
6500/- is a small cost to amount to pay when compared to the partial aneurism you’ll face when the phone starts those issues.
Maybe look into the upcoming 15 model. It’s better to buy the latest. It lasts longer software wise.

Thanks for your help! I asked my sister if she could wait for 1-2 months for the new iPhone to come out and the BBD sale but that was not possible as her current phone was not functioning properly (part of screen not working, memory issues, call quality was bad). So we went ahead and bought the phone from Flipkart yesterday. We bought iPhone 14 256GB and it costed us around Rs 75k post 4k discount on HDFC credit card.

Wife bought an iPhone 14 Pro 128GB in Deep Purple from the Apple Store in Singapore while we were there on a holiday earlier this week. Costed about 95.5k INR after doing the currency conversion & GST refund. It costs around 1.3L here in India.

Now plan is to trade in her iPhone 11 128GB & my 11 64GB and purchase iPhone 14 or 15 for myself when its out next month. Last I checked the value of the iPhone 11 was around 20k. A bit confused as to whether to wait for the 15 to launch & buy the 14 since its price will reduce or buy the 14 this month itself since the resale value of the 11 would go down once 15 launches. Kindly advice.

I think iPhone 15 makes sense because it is going to come with USB Type C charging port. If you are considering iPhone 14, then iPhone 13 makes sense too, because there is hardly any difference. Additionally, you will get some good offers/discounts on iPhone 13.

Using camera to take videos causes my iPhone 14 pro camera module (bump) to heat up significantly accompanied by rapid reduction in battery charge. What could be the reason. This problem started about two updates back

Go for 13 as it is VFM. I got mine 5 months back for almost 39k post exchange of my 12mini. Now I don't feel the need to upgrade further unless there is a really compelling reason.

iPhone 13 is retailing for 70k currently on the Apple Online Store not sure about the actual price in physical stores, the 14 I guess will eventually retail for 70k once the 15 launches & possibly 13 may get discontinued. If I'm paying 60-70k I'd rather have the 14 which is the later version than the 13 I feel.

What was the actual MRP of the iPhone 13 when you bought it?

Iphone 13 is available for 55-60k regularly on Amazon and flipkart. In next month BBD sale expect it to go as low as 44-45k.

Iphone 14 is usually available for 65-66k. In same sale expect it to go for 50-55k.

Iphone 15 as a new launch will be almost at full price or just a tad below for few months.

If someone wants to save money then go for 13 or 14 as preference.

I had bought my iPhone 11 from Amazon for less than 47k back in October 2020! This time I'll be trading in 2 iPhones so Amazon/Flipkart isn't an option.

I was in the same dilemma last year. I thought I'd pick up 13 Pro Max at a cheaper price once 14 Pro Max was launched.

But Apple discontinued the 13 Pro Max with the 14 launch, so do keep that risk in mind.

You will get the same final price (or better) on Flipkart during BBD by trading only one of your phones. Keep the other phone with you or sell on cashify.

Have you tried Apple store in Mumbai for trade in?
Selling 2 phones together in exchange will be tough even in offline. So sell one in exchange and other one separately.

I thought the same.
But Apple the greedy company knew many people will do this so discontinued pro models and kept regular ones till now. This year it's going to be the same story. Although I am looking to get 14 plus just because of better battery and bigger screen. That too if I manage a good deal otherwise will continue with my 13.

Not looking at the Pro/Pro Max. I doubt they'll discontinue 14 once 15 launches next month though they may discontinue the 13.

Last I checked with the Unicorn store - Apple Reseller, they do trade in 2 phones. I actually have a 3rd phone as well lying around iPhone 6s which hasn't been used since 2020!

The most important feature of the upcoming iPhone 15 series will be the presence of the universally available USB-C port.

On another note, buying a generation older iPhone every time a newer series launches, always makes more sense, considering the price drop. Between 13 and 14, the 13 had more value, since 14 did not really offer anything groundbreaking.
