No, that's not what I meant.
- Let's say you have iphone 14 right now.
- You have all the photos/files backup on iCloud+
- After a couple of years, let's say you want to buy Google Pixel 10
- You now have to copy all the files from iCloud+ to HDD & cancel iCloud+ subscription
- You then have to get a new Google Drive/OneDrive subscription and transfer files from HDD
That's because just "access" via browser is not useful. You want your new android device to sync all photos/videos/files too. But if you have Google Drive/One Drive from the beginning, there is nothing to do. Just install one of these apps on your next android device, login and all your photos/videos show up on the new android device instantly.
Thank you @smartcat, @niinja and @nomadsk for your valuable suggestions.
Then it looks like Google One or OneDrive are better options. MS Office apps are a major attraction of OneDrive but I have O365 subscription from my office that I can use on my iPhone. MS Office is 1000 times better than Google Workspace apps like Docs and Spreadsheet. But as my primary email is Gmail, and from Gmail I can easily access all other Google apps, I am now inclined towards Google One. But I will further explore OneDrive.
We use OneDrive. We have a group subscription with a few friends, and basically get 1 TB x 2 for my wife and me. Costs 2K per year which is very cheap. We have backed up generations of phones like this, and can see each other’s libraries. Also use Apple One Family - I find it worth it for the storage, music and Apple TV. Costs INR 365/mo - good value.
Unexpected Saga of procuring 2 iPhone 16 Promax's
My friend wanted to buy a few things and since he fractured his thumb, I offered to drive my car. So on Boxing Day, we left home to the great city of Portland, Oregon to pick up his stuff.
I love Oregon for the no taxes policy vs. the 12% ridiculous sales tax we pay on everything here.
Since he is a Best Buy member, He picked up the DJI Avata 2 and the Oura ring which entails him free replacement warranty due to his membership status.
He then said-
" You drove all the way here and will you go back empty handed"
This didn't go down well with me.rl:
I immediately decided to upgrade my iPhone 15 Promax- I got the 16 Promax and made the mistake of calling my better half to tell her about the purchase.
She used the situation to emotionally blackmail me with message bottomline being
" I never think of her".
Hence, I had to get her also a iPhone 16 Promax to replace her 14 Promax despite she not being a heavy user like me.
This is the classic case of "hitting your own leg". Well, I need to order better brains next time instead of an iPhone. :D
Here is the
deal that I got due to my pal.
He is a Verizon member so he added our lines to his account.
We got a trade-in deal for
$850 for each of our phones which I think was a pretty sweet deal considering my wife's phone is 1.5 years old and mine is 1 year old (battery health dropped to 87% within 310 cycles so it's a good riddance)
I just had to pay the balance which is $350 for each phone. The Verizon line cost was same as my existing T-Mobile (Hate to leave the home state telecom company and give business to Verizon).
Siince I got it through his Best Buy membership, we now have 2 years of Apple Care + FREE along with the phones.
Well, despite controlling myself not to upgrade to 16 Promax. Being a naive customer, somehow got enamored by Tim Cook's nefarious marketing gimmicks
Cheers to 2 same to same iPhone 16 Promax (Desert Rose color is wonderful)
P.S : Is something wrong with me??? I may have created a record as I have owned every flagship iPhone since 6 (6, 7, 8, X, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and now 16).
My friend's purchases...
i
Phone 16 Promax Couple....lol!

For the first few days, mistakenly we were grabbing each other's
iPhone 16 Promax as both phones were identical in color.
This created lot of stress at home so I had to order a couple of covers to distinguish the phones.
For a change, like me my better half chose a transparent cover and but, a different one.
There are no prizes for guessing which phone is mine. :D
Sorry about the quality- Shot with my other phone
(Samsung S22+) which never impressed me with it's camera quality.

iOS 18.2.1 out ~ 320 mb of bug fixes.
After 9.5 months of usage and after 200 cycles, my iPhone 15 Pro Max's battery percentage has dropped to 99%.
Purchased the phone in the end of March 2024 and still happy with it though I'm having itch to replace it with 16 Pro Max by trading in my 15 Pro Max. If not, I'd go with 17 as I need to upgrade my laptop first as well as my Apple Watch Series 7 to Ultra 2 or AW Series 10.
Should I be worried with the drop in the battery percentage or simply move on?
The battery percentage drop is significantly better than my iPhone 13 Pro IMO, which got reduced to 99% within 6 months of usage.
Updated both phones to iOS 18.2.1

You are lucky that you iPhone 15 Promax hung on to the battery levels to 100% for so long.
If you look at the previous posts. Mine dropped to 87% in 12 months so I got rid of it and upgraded to an iPhone 16 Promax.
In my opinion, it's best to upgrade when the battery health drops below 90% as that's when you see the overall charge levels really go down.

I upgraded to the latest version but I sometimes face the notification issues especially Apple Mail and Slack. They just refuse to notify me.
Battery life is pretty decent at almost 2 days.
No issues for my 16 Pro and Dad's 16, but noticed that the battery is draining a little faster than usual on my 15 Pro, post the 18.2.1 iOS update.
Hi everyone,
Wanted to know if Apple Care+ is recommend or not. For iPhone 16+ it's INR 17,900 for 2 yrs
link. Whoever has purchased this or thought of it but didnt, can you please share your experience. Would be really helpful.
I know that it's like an insurance by Apple. Are there any alternative? Does this cover lost or stolen?
Cheers,
NitNac
