I think it is Zibri again...
nope, it's not Zibri this time. The new tool is called iPwnage and it allows one to load any OS you want on the iPhone, through the iTunes software.
So in future, you might even see linux running on the iPhone, maybe an Android version.

Got this info from
9to5mac, who in turn got it from
Business Standard. All parties are denying that this is going to happen, but this is the norm for almost any Apple product.
September is also the month of Onam for Keralites, so this might be seen as a good time for us. :)
Start saving your money now, cost Business Standard is reporting that the price might be around Rs. 28K. ( Price in US is only about 16K ) for the 8Gb model, with the 16Gb model coming in 2009, hopefully. clap:
I guess Wipro and HCL are the 2 retailers who they have tied up with. Initially the launch was supposed to be in June 08 but guess its pushed back for some more time. No official date announced.
8Gb IPhone = $300 = Rs 28,000 :Shockked: :Shockked:
In Apple US store:
8Gb = $399
16Gb = $499
The $100 discounts are being offered by AT&T, O2, T-mobile etc, not by Apple. I believe that is for refurbished iPhones, not new ones.
Im gonna beg/borrow/steal to get that 28k !!

dude $1 us around rs40. so $300 = rs 12k.
For us airtel users on iPhone, I guess we need to look for newer versions of Ziphones. I am not too keen on migrating to Vodafone anyways.

lol 99 euros for the phone and a monthly charge of 89 euros. How silly do they think the consumers are?
I think you can answer this :).
8GB IPhone sells for
$400 in US. So that Rs 16,000. But when they launch in India, the plan to sell for Rs 28,000. That is
$700.

Now doesn't my equation make sense :).
I really doubt that it would be 28K. Price of around 22k-23k looks more realistic.
I had earlier heard rumors of Apple tying up with Air Tel in India and now suddenly this Vodafone thing has come up.
Another rumor has it that Apple is looking at x Service Provider for Prepaid and y for Postpaid.
If they manage to launch it at 400 t0 450 $ it will rock!! I think otherwise the penetration will be questionable in the Indian VFM market, or they have to attract the business users by releasing a ver 2.
Apple fans atleast 60% would have already bought it also by now, guess estimating ??
It wont launch at $400 - $450. Euro prices were much higher than US prices and have only just started to come down.
Most cost effective way is to get someone to bring it over from the US, and unlock it using Ziphone or iPwn tool.
But if you want to have warranties and free repairs, then you are stuck with whatever price Apple fixes.
Airtel would have been good for me in Kerala. Their EDGE rates are about Rs 250+ per month and only about Rs 2000 if you pay for the whole year. That is a price worth paying for on the go maps, email, weather, etc... :D
