Under privacy - analytics and improvements - share iPhone analytics must be turned on for at least a couple of hours for it to generate a log aggregated file inside which you’ll find the data.

My 14 month old iPhone 12 Mini is running on 89% battery health and 521 cycle count.

Any comments if it's healthy/good?

It's definitely not a good sign. Signs of high percentage of battery degradation.

Also, 521 cycles of battery charge count is quite high for a 14-month period which means you are literally charging your phone twice in a single day.

Here is an example of my wife's iPhone XS MAX bought in April 2019, so it's exactly 3-years old and has 88% battery capacity.



Unlike me, she does not change her phone every year :D . Her target is to get the iPhone 14 Pro Max in October.

Does anyone have any experience of using a wireless charger in iPhone 12/13. The original MagSafe charger with plug comes to Rs. 6400/-. Cheaper options are available at Rs 1500/- without plug.

Is it better to use Qi chargers, to protect the lightening pin? And also battery damage in the long run.

I have a wireless charger but hardly use it, just way too slow for the iPhone. Using the lightening cable with 20W charging brick is the best option IMO.

But aren't wireless chargers more inefficient and generate more heat than cable causing relatively faster battery deterioration?

My launch month 12 regular is at 86% as per Battery Health (and iMazing shows at 94% with 352 charge cycles) I attribute it to wireless charging. I have a dual charging pad of baseus that is by bedside. The phone would be placed on it all the while. When I realised that the battery was deteriorating, stopped charging it wirelessly.

Yea, I think the wireless charger makes the phone + battery heat to a great extent and lose it's battery capacity. I had been using one as well until a couple of months back. And now that I don't, the health % hasnt dropped.

According to Apple, the iPhone battery is designed to provide at least 500 charge cycles before hitting 80%. Your battery has done exceedingly well if it’s only lost 11% over 512 cycles.

I can say this from my own experience of using the 12 pro max over a year and observing another 12 mini in the family, both phones were at 80% health after a year of use. One was charged using MagSafe the other using apples lighting cable and brick.

Yes, I also read that 500 charge cycles is usually the best iPhone batteries do! Hahaha, looks like I've maintained the battery quite well. I use my phone a lot, while driving (CarPlay or Google Maps) or just constantly browsing web/social media. (My avg. screen time is ~7 hours daily + ~5 hours on my Mac)

I make sure the battery ranges between 20-80% and I don't usually let it die or exceed 90% mark unless and until I know I'm not gonna find a charger soon.

Also, I have realised - charging it using a Macbook is healthy! I really wanted to get a Magsafe charger, but no plans as of now.

My cousin is looking to buy an iphone 13. The 128GB version is listed on Amazon for Rs.74,900 with an additional Rs.5000 off on HDFC card which makes an effective price of Rs.69,900.

Is this a good deal to go for?

She is OK to wait a month or two if any good deals are expected.

Check out Croma, they often have additional in-store discount! Also, I'm Delhi based and prefer getting all Apple  devices from Imagine, as they often have good deals/offer freebies - power bank/wireless charger/further discount.

Let me also get inspired by you and track it similarly. But, I have one question you bought the 12 Promax in November 2020 and in 6-months you have completed 216 cycles of charging.

What does that mean? Did you charge less or more?

I was finally able to find the way to get my BattCyclCount for my 13 Pro Max.

Have done 117 battery cycles in 5-months (I got the phone in November 2021). This probably means the battery of the 13pro max is lot better than 12 pro max (I was super impressed with my 12 promax at one time).:)

I’m a heavy user, I use my phone for work (car detailing requires a lot of camera use) + calls and e-mails all day + YouTube, at full brightness most of the time. 12 Pro max had decent battery life but didn’t last the entire day. 13 pro max does, also the larger your battery, the less frequently you need to charge it, the fewer cycles you put on it.

Will also add that 13’s have much better thermal management than the 12’s, they don’t start overheating when charging or during use unlike the 12’s which overheated to the point of pulling 40-50% brightness forcefully. Heat kills batteries.

Here’s a screenshot of the 13’s battery health (it’s remained near perfect over 5.5 months of use), again unlike the 12. Note: I’ve used the exact same MagSafe puck that I used on the 12.
