I think Apple has royally messed up ios 15.6.1 update.
Mines a 8 plus, apps crash randomly.
To others on the fence, hold on for ios16, 15.6.1 just isnt worth it.

Updated my wife’s 8 Plus yesterday to 15.6.1, everything is running smoothly. If you have (should have actually) taken a backup before updating I would suggest reset the phone. Load the earlier backup again and try the update once more. It should clear things up.
Keep us updated.
Cheers

It should be available within 10-15 days from announcement. From past releases, usually its 10 days.

I'm never on a fence. When a stable update appears on phone. I automatically update it.
I never in over a decade of using iPhones faced these type of problems (Battery drain, apps crashing etc).
15.6.1 also got updated and there are absolutely no issues.

I think it was an app issue, so updated all the apps( i had disabled auto-update), seems to have fixed it for now

Me too, but this time it had some unwanted side-effects so force updated all of them.
Guys,
On a lookout for iPhone (used). Wanted to know from bhpians experience on how does the iPhone 11 pro hold up in terms of camera quality as compared to 12?
Just need to experience iOS ecosytem without breaking the bank.
Anyone has updated their 12 Pro with the latest 15.6.1 ? I did update my iPhone 7 and it seems to be draining the battery faster than usual. Hence, sitting on the fence whether to update the 12 Pro or wait for a stable iOS 16 release (which I hope should be stable).

Updated 12 pro to 15.6.1 and didn't notice any unusual battery drain.

I have used every model of iPhone and when I look back at the pictures taken from each phone . There is so much difference from one model to another because every new model of iPhone focuses majorly on improvements to their camera, faster chip and battery performance.
I had an iPhone 11 Pro for a short period and it was pretty good and can be a good start to enjoy the Apple eco-system.:)
Is it better to maintain battery charge levels between 20% - 80% - disconnect from charging at 80% and start charging when it reaches 20%?
There is conflicting advice being renderred on various sites. I usually charge till 100% and wait till it comes down to around 1% to start charging assuming it was a good practice.
Apparently not as per this:
https://www.gearpatrol.com/tech/a624...charging-tips/
Earlier posts indicate that others also charge till 100%. Can anyone clarify as to what would be the better practice?
Suddenly my wife started complaining that she is not able to hear the other side in noisy environments on her 3 year old iPhone 7. When checked it was real bad and the volume was down to around 50%.
Had a look at the earpiece grill, could not notice anything unusual. Anyway took an toothbrush and saturated with IPA (isopropyl). Gently cleaned the grill and then blowed air hard in to the grill area. Voila.. the volume was back to 100%. Dust and grime had fully blocked the grill and reduced the volume.
A trip to Apple service would have costed min 2K, opening of the phone and may be even earpiece replacement.
So recommend every one to clean the grill of phones regularly with some Isopropyl alcohol to prevent this issue.

I am in this ecosystem for last 8 yrs. Upgraded last year from iPhone 7 to iPhone 12.
I also considered iPhone 11 but price difference was not that much vs features upgrade from 11 to 12. Feature stood out in particular was dolby vision (HDR) 4k video recording among other features.

In Samsung galaxy devices, they have a battery life protector feature which limits charging to 85%. I have no idea how effective is this, but if Samsung / Google added this feature officially, it must be backed by research of the hardware / software manufactures of this phone.
These days I normally use battery saver at all times except when I am travelling or on a trip where I need the max 100% juice.
