Same thing happens here on Bannerghatta road , near Meenakshi temple as well, Jaggu. Although, must admit that am nowhere near the center of town as Indiranagar is.

Not sure if this is the case.
Have got speeds of around 3.78Mbpz on BSNL 3G in Mysore, a burst speed of 3.2Mbps in Blr. Cochin was no different, in fact speeds were patchy. Kolkata, it was even worse with hardly 1Mbps.

Yesterday in Coimbatore, speeds i got was in the range of 2Mbps near Amrita campus.

I am trying to reach Airtel customercare for a couple of weeks but have been unsuccessful so far. It automatically disconnects the call after the option.

If you are calling from a Landline number, it will never connect [], that what I have seen for last few weeks. I tried so many times using my office line and it get disconnected as you said.

But, if you call from your mobile, it will connect as they can directly charge you for talking to customer care executive (50p/ 3min). That is my experience. Call 12118 (if you are a postpaid and calling for gprs/3G).

Re: Atlast! 3G in India

Just wait for some more months, the speeds are bad i get it. Its because they have started rolling out towers and they are still in testing phase. And as far as i know from my experience the signal s very weak in some parts of the city. I drive a lot and my 3G is on all the time, the signal fluctuates badly. But there is not a place without a 3G signal. So its better. But the speeds are low, but not as low as 2G. Even in poor signals u can stream video. Thats better. Its been a great upgrade from 2G. No point in going back to 2G.

2G at least works, even if its slow. what's the point of having a technology that just shows on your phone but doesn't work when you want it to? i have 3.5G displayed on my phone; even shows its data connection is available, but the moment i try to browse the net, check facebook or send an email, i get an error telling me theres no connectivity!

let them stabilize then maybe i'll go back to 3G; i'm not going to fund their network upgrade for free!

Checking cricket score on Airtel 3g (without any plan) costs me about 2 bucks each time!

I was calling to 198 from my mobile. It did go through for a couple of days without any issues before it stopped working completely. May be because 198 is free, but in any case this is a very bad experience.

One day they asked me to call a paid GPRS helpline because the GPRS was not working. Even if it is their fault, they would still want us to pay for it.

The GPRS speed was good but not consistent. The speed I was getting was in the range of 140kbps-210kbps when it worked, but the connection stopped working randomly.

Re: Atlast! 3G in India

Finally decided to end my 3G subscription with Airtel. Reasons being it had issues with syncing with my office mail, it used to stop and i had to reboot the phone several times before it would work. Also the last few days i found my phone (Samsung Wave) heating up and the battery draining quite fast. So hope to get 3G later on when it is more stable.
