If I go for proper floor speakers I will only power them with a separate amp. I just wanted to know which one would count as an upgrade from my current HIfi system & since those speakers are quite close to book shelf speakers, I am under impression that upgrading to shelf speakers wont be as good as upgrading to floor speakers.
Hey no issue at all mate. Please go ahead and make this thread your own. I get to learn stuff as well and gets me thinking of options....

Floor standers have more box volume. This means that they are usually more sensitive and go lower.

Floor speakers are actually the anchors of a 5.1 set up.A pair of good tower speakers will actually compensate to a small extend a need for a sub..

Hi,

Given the requirement and budget are these iBall Tarang speakers too bad ?

Any comments on Sound Quality etc ? Or they are too low to be even discussed here

eBay India: iBall Tarang 5.1 Channel Home Theatre Speaker + REMOTE (item 250441019250 end time 16-Jun-2009 20:18:39 IST)

8 ohm impedence matches the amp Max RMS is 20W so you should not give play full volume but it is a small bedroom.

Regards

I looked up their website and both bookshelf and the towers are rated 4 ohms.

amit: i think you should avoid them completely if you remotely like your sounds. But if budget is a major constraint and you absolutely must have a 5.1 setup options are really limited in that case.
