well, lets say in dollars...prolly from $100-300. Im not looking for somethin too fancy, like the Razor, for example..but somethin small, but stylish at teh same time. Ive decided between two Samsung models, but they won't be released till aprill and i wont be in india till june...and by then, im preety sure even more models will be out.

Go for a nokia.
Way more sturdy and reliable.
I would reccomend a nok. 6670, 6600, 6230.
If you can stretch, the get a 6230i.
It rules.
Small, compact, 1.3MP cam., MP3.

At least thats what i have experienced.

Hi Lambo

Which would the best PDA/Phone be, then? I have the iMate JAM (AKA the XDA Mini) and I cant find any other PDA/Phone that beats it, but that could be because I've gotten used to the XDA/iMate format.

The only other comparable model in terms of functionality would be the Nokia 9500, but its such a brick and comes with just 80mb of Storage....

I heard someone ask for XDAII prices - I dont think they sell them anymore. The current models would be the PDA 2k and the Mini.

This is going to be an interesting debate...

Cheers

Check XDA II s. It has all the bells and whistles including a vga screen and comes with Windows mobile 2003 second edition. The price with bill was 45,000 a month back.

Hi Satish

I think the JAM is a better deal because it's got all the above AND it fits into your hand like any mobilephone. Cost me the equivalent of Rs.30,000 with a Bluetooth headset free.

Cant stop Jamming...

Steer, If JAM is XDA mini, then it comes with only Windows mobile 2003 edition. It doesn't support VGA screens and horizontal layout.

XDA IIS also comes with Bluetooth, wlan, more memory.

PocketPC phones are for people for whom priority is a PDA then a phone. For people whose priorities are the other way, Microsoft launched MS Smartphone. These are the size of any mobile phone and comes with most of the features of PDA.

Satish

The JAM/Mini comes with WM2003SE as its OS, which means it supports VGS screens and the switchable layout.

It has all the features of the XDA IIS except the WiFi, which is a pity since they could have given us WiFi instead of the stupid 1.3 mp camera.

As for memory, it doesnt really make a difference as a 1 GB SD card costs less than the equivalent of Rs.3,000 these days.

Good to find another XDA user. Are you a member of XDA-DEVELOPERS too?

Cheers

Cool. I think they're planning to launch the XDA4 in May, which is basically the JAM/Mini with a swivel screen (operates both as a clamshell phone and a mini-laptop, which is like a cross between the Moto Razr and the Nokia 9 series). Apparantly it comes with 2 cameras - one to take pictures with and one to video-conference on while using the PDA.

Also comes with EDGE/3G and wifi, so that should be something.....

I may not require all those stuff. Well, my pocketPC and phone put together is fine for me. Wifi is an added advantage so that I can retain the device for 2 to 3 years.

I am in to my second PDA and 4 th phone (only one of them costed more than 10,000, rest all are less than 5000) in the last 4 years.
