ill guide u up here the only reason to get a 6230 is if u need add on memory if u can stay under 42mb go for the SE k700i as i did. if u are a nokia fan though u are not listening to me and got the 6230 by now. update wise the 6230i is in the making with rocking features. choice is hard. whats the price on the 6230 current right now anyways

people wanting to buy the 6630 shud put it on hold as nokia is launching new models...
like the 6680...6681 n the new 8800
has a better screen (265k colors) ... more functions etc...
cheers

the 6680 is slower on benchmark tests than the 6630. kinda like what we have dyno for the cars

was around 1500 when i had my 7250i. though i dont think its useful at all. sell the phone and get a BT enabled phone for the same sum. just my 2 cents if u love your phone then u wont i guess

6230 is for around 12.5 - 13K in grey market.
The 3230 makes more sense at 17K (although we are getting it for 16K from the person who supplies to the grey market).

any new phones being launched in india? im still on track to get a SE k700i..but willing to look at other stuff too.

Quite a few.Infact the N6680,N6681,N8800 and the N9300i will surely be happening.I think even Sony-Ericson is planning to launch a superior version of the P910i.

If your budget is 30,000-plus you might want to check out the iMate JAM which is a nice little device with phenomenal functionality. I'm not sure if there's a Nokia with that kind of versatality, unless you consider the 9500 which is a brick and isnt half as much fun.

Think a bit different, there are other companies besides Nokia.

This will arguably be the best phone in the market when it is launched.

Siemens SXG75
SXG75 key features:
- GPS + A-GPS
- UMTS / 3G
- MP3 Player
- QVGA screen (240x320 pixels)
- RDS Radio
- Bluetooth, infrared
- 128 MB internal memory + RS-MMC
- Word / Excel / PDF viewer
- 2 MP camera + CIF camera for video call

Does anybody offer 3G services in India yet? As far as I know EDGE is as far as we've reached, and that too with just AirTel?

Wonder if any of the operators actually holds a 3G license...if not, it would be a bit of a waste to buy a 3G phone right now because you'd get more choice when the service is finally running (and better prices too?)

Out of interest - how many of you use your mobilephone for anything other than plain voice communication and text messaging? And yeah - for watching the occassional MMS video...

Better to be ready right? And if you are paying so much and it comes in the package, why not? Then again, I've been using my phone for more than a year and a half now, so that classifies it as a dinosaur (hell, it doesn't even have a camera inbuilt :Shockked: !!) so maybe I'm not the best person to comment here!

BTW, orange were the first to offer EDGE if I'm not mistaken.

Quite the opposite, actually. Prices for terminals (handsets) drop as the usage picks up - more people buying terminals. When the service is either not available or is limited in availability (for lack of Network Resources or high pricing) the terminals usually have an unwanted premium attached to them.

When GPRS handsets were first introduced they were sold for about Rs.80,000 in India. Now every Rs.10,000 handset comes with GPRS by default. Therein lies the difference.

You will be able to find a terminal with all features other than UMTS/3G for less. 3G is (W)CDMA over GSM - the terminals will therefore be more complex and therefore more expensive.

You could look at the Nokia 9500 which comes with EDGE, Wi-Fi, some kind of Camera (1.3?), 80 mb memory and smartphone functionality (PDA + Phone) blah blah blah

or the iMate jam which is much better but doesnt come with built-in Wi Fi (you have to buy an Add-on SD WiFi card).

or the Nokia 9300 if you dont need a camera...
