Bought Nokia N82 over the weekend. Still exploring features. Was surprised to find out that

1. It runs Python and PHP , Apache , mysql that too supplied by Nokia itself. Google for PAMP
2. It is a Dual CPU phone (each CPU running at 300 MHz

Cost was 19k at Mumbai

Paid more then 1k for second time in life for a cell phone. First time it was Nokia 5110 that I bought for around 12k.

Went through this comparison last week itself. Here are important differences (apart form camera)

N82 details : Device Details -- Nokia N82
N78 details : Device Details -- Nokia N78

N82 has more memory (128 MB as compared to 96 MB in N82)
N72 has better battery backup (1200 mah as compared to 1050 mah in N82)
N82 has demand paging, so it can use miscroSD card as RAM

Overall N82 is faster in terms of GUI and will not be sluggish even if you run couple of apps at the same time.

N78 will have a better battery life. Full charge lasts 3 days in N82 for me. With N78, it would have gone up to 4 days.

EDIT : One of the reasons N82 is faster because it has 2 CPUs, while N78 has 1 CPU.

Am having a hard time finding a spare charger for the Nokia 6500 Classic. It uses the flat pin usb type charger.

Have tried several Nokia dealers in mumbai but none had it. Any idea where i can find one?

Also need to buy another 6500 classic for my mom but seems to be that its out of stock everywhere? Tried calling several mobile stores and subhiksha stores too

Try online stores like Futurebazaar and eBay

Are you only looking at these two models in Nokia ? Would Sony Ericsson be a choice for you ? If music is a must for you then Sony Walkman series would be good to look at.

Demand paging is there in N78 too. Its operating system specific feature not device specific.
N82 has a dedicated graphic accelerator not two processors while N78 has a single CPU but it runs at 369 Mhz compared to 332 MHz for N82.
Over and above the N82, N78 has better battery, Navi wheel, Better screen brightness, FM Transmitter, Symbian OS 9.2 with Feature Pack 2 (N82 has FP1).
N78 loses out with a 3.2 MP cam with normal LED flash compared to 5 MP of the N82 with Xenon flash. N82 also has better looks if you ask me and better 3D capabilities. It will play 3D games a lot better compared to N78. They are priced similarly and if you ask me, go for N82 eyes closed.

Why would they do that? The blessed thing will slow EVERY task down to a crawl! Demand Paging, which an OS resorts to for task execution under low memory conditions, will use Flash ROM for storing not-immediately-needed things away like on a HDD on PCs. One doesn't use slow devices for keeping immediately-needed instructions and data.

Has it been released? The big dealers (like Global Access) don't have a clue about the release.

You must have meant FM Receiver (radio, yaar).

HTC Diamond the indian version is 2G, if you are still interested i can share the number of the HTC dealer who can help you. I am not sure maybe he can procure the 3G version also at a higher price.
