Nokia N78 "over-the-air" software version 11.043 released - 23 June 2008

Just got this update from Nokia website
********************************************
This "over-the-air" software release will not be available through the Nokia Software Updater application, but is available directly through your Nokia N78. The release includes improved stability with Bluetooth (headsets and car kits) and music (playback over a long time and content refresh). This release also includes optimized Camera performance and Naviscroll sensitivity improvements.

Technology innovations mean the size of this "over-the-air" update is approximately 2 MB. To get this software through your Nokia N78, click Menu > Tools > Utilities > Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on-screen prompts. Remember that you can also use Wi-Fi to download the update.

Nokia provides this software free of charge. However, costs for downloading may be charged by your network operator or service provider. Please contact them for information about pricing.

As with all software releases, note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved this release. Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible.

OK this is what I got from SE today. I went to a official SE dealer today. He took pity on me and attached a keypad from another used P990i for free. He said "Uncle, keep it it'll work till the G900 is offically released on wednesday". so now I got a working P990i - one button on the "new" keypad still sticks but it is much better than the keypad I had.

He also promised to send over the G900 once it is released. Hey for that kinda of service he'd got my sale. but he called me "Uncle". The cheek of the kid. my nephews and nieces dont call me uncle.

Was expecting that!! But come on now Navin, the kid was just trying to be nice, helpful & polite! I think he still deserves your business! And next time you can tell him to not call you "Uncle"!

I think I ought to dye my hair, get some botox treatment and a tummy tuck, and get a personal trainer...no...no...on second thought I dont want to look like a cross between SRK and Michael Jackson besides if anyone is going to whip me it should be my wife.

of course the kid was being nice. I told him i will get the G900 when it comes out. I did not ask the price but I guess it will be around 25-30K, I hope he gets a nice fat commision for that sale - he told me it will be amongst the first official G900s in Mumbai if not THE first. The unofficial version (which I played with was nice. it will make a good replacement for the P990i only it's screen was a bit small.

Like they say: "Michael Jackson was a poor black boy who grew up to be a rich white woman!"

Now I know what the Sheik of Bahrain sees in MJ!

BTW, before any Bahraini (fiercely loyal they are) does object, let it be known that my sister in law is a Bahrani.

HTC TyTN II rocks!

hi, just bought a HTC TyTN II and cherishing every moment of it! Phone is super quick compared to my HTC Touch, has got built in GPS Maps for major cities and will be available free for 1year via mapkings.com but you can select just 1 city for registration.

Build quality is superb compared to older siblings, slide mechanism is absolutely butter smooth in operation.

Found the sound output to be very less audible, just has one speaker next to the camera lens.

Will keep posting more as I find.

No, all blackberries in India work with the partner service provider's sim card only. There are no independent blackberries in which you can put a sim card of your choice in my knowledge.

Of course ALL BBs will work like normal mobiles (phone mode) with any provider with ANY service provider. A BB is basically a cell phone after all.

It is only for the BB Data Services (Push email, Enterprise connectivity etc.) that you require a special contract with Airtel, Voda or others.

Was just about to reply....yes and regular data services will work, its just Push Mail & enterprise connectivity that you will lose out on.

But if you're not using these, why bother with Blackberry in the first place?

Is there any free GPS/navigation software for E series/Symbian S60 platform? I am ok with the data usage (GPRS) part as long as there is some bit of navigation support. Even visual navigation is fine.
