I'm eagerly waiting for the Nokia C6 myself. It's supposed to cost around 13.5 K. Do have a look at the specs of C6 in the nokia site.
How about HTC Legend? Here in Bangalore they are selling at 21.5k.
HTC Legend suits all your requirements

Me too, but it seems the wait is getting longer. C6 seems to be nice phone on specs. But need to wait and see how it turns up to be.
Look at samsung Wave... the best specc'd phone this side of iPhone 4 at an absolute value for money price tag.

I did not buy the Wave. |
JK it will show some arrows flowing one from left side to right side- u need to move your fingers along that arrow to stop it
the arrow flowing from right to left is for snooze- follow your finger from right to left for snoozing.
Are u using 5800 now? is there anyway to lock and unlock the screen w/o using the slider switch?
Samsung Galaxy Spica (GT I 5700) with documents to go from Android Market would work.
It would have all the features you need
The best part cost is south of 12.5 K INR

For his usage (editing documents) - a touch screen is next to useless. The phone has to absolutely have a full qwerty keyboard. Check out the Blackberry offerings. They seem to fit your bill perfectly.

I think you could buy a Blackberry Storm 9530 which costs around 18K or a Nokia E72 that costs around 17K or even a Nokia N96.
If you prefer a Windows Mobile based handset, I think you could buy a Samsung Omnia Pro which comes with a keypad and costs less than your current budget. I think you could also find some Windows based HTC phones for that price range ( not sure of the HTC Touch 2 is on sale now ). |
E72 very small primitive screen with tiny keypad buttons is not comfortable in my big hand (I'm 85 Kg). Moreover, frequent complaints of window hang may be due to small speed of 600MHz for windowOS a big let down
C6 is very attractively priced . But not sure of performance with mere 434 MHz of speed.
HTC Touch2 is way out of budget cap of 20K.
BB Storm v/s
Samsung Wave
1. Display : Capacitive ,65K,360X480Px Super Amoled ,16M,480X800
2. Price : 19K v/s 19K
3. Bluetooth: V2.0 v/s V3.0
4. Camera : 3.5 MP v/s 5.0 MP
5. Processor : 528MHz v/s 1.0 GHz
6. Memory : 320 MB v/s 390MB
7. FM : No v/s FM with recorder

Samsung wave Seems a very good deal. Any feed back for BADA OS.
Any ideas why Samsung GalaxyS is so premium priced at 31K.
Thanks every body for very rapid responses.
Please keep them pouring in like rains in Mumbai
cheers

MX Only point to note: The spec says resistive touch sensor which is the older tech as against te capacitive touch which is available as the current one. This may render the touch experience a bit slower.
If they really price at 13.5 thats good pricing!

Samsung Galaxy S is a premium handset running Android 2.1 and will be updated to 2.2 soon. For the features it offers, i think the price is quite decent, considering that the Iphone offers lesser features and costs much more.
The Wave is real value for money. Nothing even comes close to it for that price. However, we have to see how the BADA OS turns out. It could do with more developer support.
If you dont mind waiting for sometime, Nokia N8 is coming.
You might want to take a look at Garmin-Asus M10 as well, available for 18K. GPS is good, Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Professional running at 600MHz is quite ok. Multimedia is mediocore though.
For extensive editing on the go, touchscreen is not the best option as has already been pointed out above.
Good luck in your search.

E72 is not Windows based but Symbian OS 9.3.
Also if you don't mind Samsung own BADA OS checkout Samsung Monte s5620 too priced at 9K, it had everything you are looking for in phone, GPS, Wifi, 3G.....etc

I dont think the Monte runs Bada. Currently , the Wave is the only phone on the market with Bada OS, although they have announced a few other devices. Monte runs on Java with the TouchWiz UI on top. So you won't be able to run all the apps made for Bada on this phone.
