Guys, need suggestion on a gift for an uncle.
Should be:
- a Nokia
- should look very good (polished, grown up, refined etc etc not youthful, brash etc etc)
- should have a good camera
- should not be too bulky (ruling out e71/75)
- should be SIMPLE, will be used by an elderly, accomplished gentleman who is new to mobile phones (hence the Nokia preference)
- good battery life, call quality etc etc
Ideally would have liked a Sirocco but the budget is abut 10-15k so the only one I found to meet the specifications is the Nokia 6700. Stainless steel body, elegant looks and a good 5 MP AF camera. Nokia 6700 classic pictures, official photos
Any other options? |
You could get a slightly used Scirocco for that. Or as someone suggested earlier, a brand new E71 which is quite svelte and certainly not bulky.
I'm looking for a camera... that can also make a few calls. :D
Under 20k what would be the best option? I recently bought a Nokia E75 and the photo quality is disgusting. I want this one to stand by for the times I cannot carry my large and clunky camera.
Can anyone help me, if I can directly update the phone firmware & the ovi maps directly from the phone? I have Nokia E71.

At exactly 20k, the best cameraphone is the Nokia N86 88MP.
It has an 8 megapixel camera, which can vary aperture and shutter speed.
Like the Nokia N73 and N82, the N86 has a mechanical shutter.
It has the widest-angle Carl Zeiss lens of any cameraphone, equivalent to a 28 mm lens on a 35 mm film camera.
The 3rd gen dual LED flash is the brightest among non-Xenon cameras.
And it can capture VGA resolution full-motion video (640x350 pixel video).
The front screen is made of scratch-resistant toughened glass.
While many top-end phones have a GPS satellite receiver these days,
the Nokia N86 also has a built-in digital compass, and an FM transmitter.
You can transmit and play music to your car's FM stereo receiver.
There is no other phone which offers so many features for Rs. 19,975.

Guys as i earlier mentioned i wanted to buy a phone with a very good camera and since i dont change my phone very often would like the buy the best phone in the market as of now.
Since i heard the satio had some software problems i have been thinking about it and decided to go against it.
I would like to know what are the other 12 mp phones which are available in the market and which are most likely to be released soon ?
Does a optical zoom have an advantage over a digital zoom ? |
Guys as i asked for you earlier , are there any 12mp phones that are in the pipeline ?

b.) A charger
c.) 2GB M2 Mem card
d.) A ribbon kind of thing like you get in cyber shot camera range.
e.) A data cable to connect with PC
f.) A USB adapter for the M2 mem card .(Very fast )[/QUOTE]

What about the C905 detailed above? The link below picks the N86. Dual LED vs Xenon anyone?

Why not Corby Pro ? 11.8k and has everything except for windows. Also look at Samsung Ominia B7320 if you want a windows Mobile.
Looking for a new mobile. Shortlisted Nokia N79, E63 and 6700. Would like to know the best prices I can get in Bangalore for these models.

N79 is around 13.5k
E63 - 10-10.5k
I would pick N79 out of the above, if you are not looking for a business phone.

Picked up Nokia 5230 yesterday. Cost was 8,300.
Amazing phone for the price. GPS works fine, setting up Garmin and other packages, |
The price looks interesting, any idea what are the major differences between this & 5800 (i.e. apart from camera & a map loader application preloaded & a list if ready to download & use apps for 5800)?
Is the refresh rate for GPS same as 5800 too?

5800 has better camera, Wifi and other bells and whistles. I was told that you can not add 3rd party applications to the main screen of 5230.
@navin : Dual LED is no match for Xenon of C905 .
Try to use it at a show room and see for yourself.
Also the link that you have given it seems exposure is set on the higher side in Nokia .
You can do the same in C905 with settings and easily beat the Nokia .
Also one more feature that is not shown there is the speed of picture taking capability.
Eg One with C905 of a car going at a speed of 70-80kmph and other with Nokia88.
Also try shooting any bright light directly.
Also notice the higher noise in Nokia compared to Sony.
I have not used Nokia much but of what i have used i always found Nokia color rendering too artificial.
Regards

Primary difference is WiFi and Camera. 5230 does not have WiFi and camera is just 2 MP. Basically a "Naam ke Vaaste" camera.
Other then that, 5230 does NOT come with a memory card so you have buy a 4 GB card for 500 Rs.
