Have been a Nokia user till now and I just love the 'profiles'. Is there any other manufacturer who has this system?

If going for a new phone now in say the 15K range, what would you advise? 3G has so many different networks and I saw that a particular Samsung has 2 while the e72 has 4. What is important for the 3g? I am looking at this phone for e-mail, net etc and not for music so what is recommended in this price range?

:thumbs up I agree.
My Sony Ericsson W200i camera(0.3MP) takes sharper images than my Dad's Nokia 3110 classic(1.3MP)!!

Mega pixel is a myth for sure.

But actual spec is size of sensor and type of sensor. N8 beats others hands down on these.

Have been looking to buy Samsung WaveI (S8500), but no store seems to have this in stock (both in Bangalore and Chennai). Dont want to buy this from the gray-market, can anyone help me out!

Anyone got hands on experience on Samsung Galaxy tab and Dell Streak?

What's the going price and did HTC make the Streak for Dell?

Hi all, i am in the market for a touch phone and i have shortlisted Nokia 5235. Can someone please tell me that what is the current price of 5235. Quick answers are appreciated !

You can get it off ebay for 8,330.

@F8B: Go to any reputed outlets in your area, such as Univercell, The Mobile Store, etc., and inquire. Nokia 5235 sells for INR 8390 here in Chennai. My experience is, you can easily get a discount of INR500 if you bargain with them.

@Racoon: Buying mobiles off eBay and the like is very very risky. Just take a look at the offiicial Nokia Discussion Forum - you can find a lot of people who were sold cheap fakes and the seller would disappear without a trace. Even if it's a reputed seller, it's foolishness to buy something online just by seeing a photo. Think of the hassles involved in sending it back if the unit is problematic.

Well I have ( not the streak) , My personal advice would be not to jump in for an Android tablet if you want VFM if you can wait for some time ( 6 - 9 months) then you can have something which is really a netbook / laptop replacement , As of today it is just another form-factor instead of a phone.

Android OS still has one foreground UI for an app so experience on a tab is not much different from a phone. Most probably with Honeycomb the situation will change.

And not HTC did not make streak for Dell , Dell was the premier partner ( launch device) along with HTC for Froyo but it's anther story that they took too long to commercialize their first device

I have samsung Wave with 5 MP camera and we went to check out N8 and C7 at nokia priority showroom for my friend. We did a photoshoot with all the three mobiles and samsung wave still pics were the best among the three. C7 had the worst pics, almost unusable indoor pics and N8 were okay but Wave pics were much better and sharper.
In videos, the three sets were much closer to each other.
So, its not just about the mega pixels and sensor size. They are also important to some extent but then the image processing algorithm is very important. I think even with good camera hardware, Nokia is not having a very good image processing software because 12 MP pics with all such hype as a camera phone should click much better pics.

Are you sure it is "very very risky"? Because eBay guarantees replacement or refund if you don't get what you are supposed to get. I am not sure how well that works in practice though. If you know better, please tell us.

As for buying thru photo, in case of things like mobile, and if you know the model you are buying and have seen/used it elsewhere, then you are anyway supposed to get a sealed box, so where is the problem?

IMO seller's rating matters a lot. Also if there are any offers or discounts (sometimes you also get additional discount for using some CCs), you can save some money by buying thru eBay. And if buying thru "marketplaces" like eBay still does not sound good, then one can consider sites like Flipkart. It seems to have a good reputation. But prices seem bit higher than what you can get on eBay. I would avoid Rediff, etc.

Things are happening quiet fast compared to even two years back and thank god that we can bid Windows farewell. HTC could have proceeded minus Win7 but we must thank them for shaking Nokia up from deep sleep.

My experience with Motorola has not been good after using Razor so did not try Droid but went back to N8.

Still the bigger screen of both Streak and Galaxy tab keeps bugging, but the Rs 38,000 price tag is way out of line. Both devices are definately overpriced and as you said one better wait for prices to come down.

One more relevant issue - if a phone is bought from a brick & mortar store, can one expect the store/shop to change the handset if its defective? What you are saying implies that they do so.

Couple years ago, I had bought a Nokia which was faulty out of the (sealed) box. The store (Telephone Shoppee in Kothrud) refused a replacement and asked me to take up the matter with Nokia service center only. So there was no benefit for me to buy it from a brick and mortar store. I might as well have purchased a sealed box online and would have suffered the same harassment by Nokia (long story) if the handset was defective.

So the question is can one normally expect physical stores to give an exchange right on the spot?

Guys,
Need your opinion for SE Xperia X10 & Iphone 3G

I'm in UK & both these mobiles are available at ~200 GBP (both unlocked,1 month old but in excellent condition)

Just loved the X10 for its looks & multimedia capability & also the novelty factor. Now since the 2.1 is offically out I can safely upgrade it from 1.6 platform also.Multitouch is not a dealbreaker here. The only problem I see is with the battery life for which there are different views.

The Iphone 3G ...well everyone knows about it,but it doesnt seem to have a eye-catchy design in it moreover I'm worried in case it gets locked due to upgrade/downgrade of platform. This should not be a problem with X10?
I scrolled through various pages of this thread but couldnt find any head on camparo of these two mobiles, request you to provide inputs specially on X10.
Things I'm looking forward to:
1.Good screen resolution
2.Mp3 playback Quality
3.Incoming & Outgoing sound clarity
PS: The mobile would be used in India primarily
Thanks

Looks like Nokia got their prices on the ball this time around !!

@ kratos11: I would have suggested the X10 but considering your requirements, you are better off with the iphone.

1) X10 has 256k colors screen & 16M colors will be available only in next upgrade.
2) MP3 quality is strictly average & it does not even have equalizer settings.
3) Incoming & outgoing sound quality is below average!

by the way, you are looking for no options other than these two? IMO, buy the iphone if you are too keen on it's brand value else have a look at other options too.
