P.S. In India, I had shortlisted Dell Inspiron 1525 : 2.0 Ghz Processor, gb RAM, 160 HDD with approx.39000/-

Also similar for Camera, but will post in camera section.
I bought a similar config for 38000 directly from Nehru Place

Dell Inspiron 1525 nSeries

DOS (No OS)
2 Ghz CPU
2GB RAM
160GB HDD
1 year warranty
Carry Case
And rest of usual stuff included in the config.

The blue had preloaded vista so i opted for it.(Anyways liked the blue better). Am not a big fan of Vista, but the problem with the current series of dell lappys is that if u take the ones with no preloaded OS, u don't get integrated bluetooth.

@Trrk, thanks a lot for answering my innumerable Pm's!

Hi Jay,

Congratulations. But I thought that you wanted a gaming machine! This one does not have a separate graphics card.

Am I missing something .. when I see that the Indian Mac prices are "almost" at par with the US models ?

I guess the 13" MacBook at 59k is a steal. Might just dump my 2 year old HP Pavilion laptop and go for this one!!

@ Fountainheader: Read in the papers that apple is offering student discount.
Get hold of a cousin or a nephew of yours and avail that. The offer was in the papers in pune, check if it applies to you in chennai as well.

@ metropolis: Dude did you try the drivers for SP2. Why i am asking this is because i have a dell which came preloaded with xp SP2. I downloaded sp3 and upgraded from SP2 to SP3 without requiring to download any drivers for any devices.Check if that works.

Cheers

Motorheadinc I have already tried that which is not working. The service centre told me to find the link on Microsoft website which I'm unable too. Otherwise the system is running fine.

How is Dell Inspiron 1525? I heard it has some overheating problems? And any other lappies in the same range?
Specifications are not an issue, mostly home use.
Thank you guys for your reply. Now that the friend has decided to go in for Dell 1525, there is one more thing I would like to know.
The friend has decided to go in for Street Custom High Gloss as the color.
What someone told is that Glossy colors can be scratched very easily. Is it true? And is it better to go for Matt Black over Gloss Black?

Need to asap, got to make payment tomorrow, its on hold only because of color!!

Since going wireless, I have been using my M1530 laptop most of the time placed on my lap. And does this guy heat up! Even though the core temperature are being maintained at 45'C, it get very difficult to place on the lap and continue using.

Also noticed that the palm rest also gets heated up. Has anyone else faced this?
