Thanks for the update clevermax. I am always scared about buying electronics online bcos I am skeptical about returns/exchanges from online sites if the package/cellphone is damaged in transit. |

Cool, let me know how it is and also how the buying experience was with Flipkart. I am planning to buy it from Alpha (if it is cheaper there) or from flipkart. |

Forgot to ask another point: What about Octroi? Is it paid or do you need to pay the same? |

Regarding Flipkart it a start up by 2 IIT guys. The Price mentioned are almost at par with what you get in Local market may be about 200-300 difference. |
All Electronics sold on Flipkart are sourced from Indian suppliers authorized by the Manufacturer. They come with minimum 1 year Manufacturer's warranty & are serviceable at the corresponding brand's Authorized Service Center(s) in India, unless specified otherwise. For Mobile Accessories, the supplied accessories inside the box have 6 months manufacturer warranty. All Electronics (Mobiles, Gaming Consoles, Cameras & Laptops) are covered by free insurance coverage against theft and damage during transit. |

I think fellow mumbai bhpians who have already bought from them can clarify further. On the site, it says the prices are 'inclusive of all taxes'!! |

Nope, I stay in Mumbai, hence Octroi applies for me. A couple of months back, I had emailed the same question to another Online website (letsbuy.com) and they said that I have to pay approx 6% of the cost as Octroi. :Frustrati They said that the courier guy would collect the amount from me and provide me with the receipt of the same. |

I have a Samsung G3 with pre-installed Google Maps 4.3. The latest version of Google Maps is 5.1: https://market.android.com/details?i...roid.apps.maps Has anyone used this maps version. If I install it and it does not perform well (as mentioned in some of the comments) how do I revert to the previous version? |

Why do you need HTC sync? I have installed apps by directly copying apk files from PC to the phone and then running those in the phone. I installed NFS Shift like that. Normal way is to goto market and select install (in phone itself) but there are better ways. 1) Some sites will have a QR code displayed, you can conveniently browse in your PC, select that app, it will display the QR code. Run your favorite QR code scanner app in phone, point the phone to the code on PC screen, scan and that will trigger an install! 2) Best way: Browse for apps in your PC by going to market.android.com. You need to be signed into your Google account. Select any app and click "Install in my Phone" option, just watch the phone - the app will automatically start downloading in your phone and will get installed, without even touching your phone! Cool.. isn't it? |

Get "Astro file manager" or "Linda file manager" from Android market. Copy .apk from PC to SD card. Open Astro/Linda. Navgate to SD card, and tap on .apk to install. Could be a little different for Astro, I've used only Linda. Now that currently you dont have an active data plan, you can use wi-fi to access Market and install these file managers. |
