Why is this a deal-breaker for you? OS upgrade happens once a year or so. Normal updates happens over air.

I have tried updating a Sony Xperia M on the PC, tried multiple times but failed. Two of my friends did try this out as well, but without any success.

I do not know what was wrong, but like other phones, why can't Sony update OS over OTA?

Hmm, it worked for me the only time I tried. Got the phone on Kitkat, upgraded to Lollipop same day.

And one more issue in which I want clarification. Are the skins of phones which are not stock android, heavy? Does it cause a lag or have glitches. My experience with the Nexus 5 has been fantastic, hence I do not know if I will really happy with this change.

Yes, but the effect on performance vary. Samson's skin is heavy and bloated. But Sony and HTC usually have lighter skins. Motorola is almost close to vanilla android and it usually provides the most lag free performance even on less than flagship grade hardware.

Took this yesterday. My update is still pending :p

Edit: I'm on a z2 though. But I'm guessing it's the same.

Any users of Asus Zenphone 2 here? The specs look impressive.

Yes I just got the zf2 still exploring the mobile though. I have the 64gb 4g version

A short initial review -

Zenfone 2, 4gb/64GB ROM version
Firmware version - WW

I have a Nexus 5 as a primary phone, therefore my initial review will be based on the comparision to the N5.

1) ZF2 is big and heavy - you really feel the girth of the phone and one hand operation is not comfortable. However there is a feature to reduce the screen size for one hand operations
2) ZenUI - There are a lot of apps which may or may not be useful to users. Personally I prefer a vanilla android experience therefore all the apps are bloatware to me, but folks may find some of the apps useful. I haven't explored the apps therefore unable to give a view.
3) Screen - For some reason I like a screen a lot, it's seems easy on the eyes, pleasing to look at. I find it better than the N5 screen apart from the brightness, which is to me too bright at the lowest setting
4) Battery Life - I'm using a single sim - it may last you a sane office time (say about 0800 hrs. to 1800 hrs.) If you add a second sim then it should come down. Overall it's as good or as bad as the nexus 5 battery life. Please bear in mind that as it's a new phone so my usage may be higher than normal.
5) Dual SIM - one sim supports 4G and the other is for 2g only.
6) Build - It's no HTC/Apple, accpetable built quality, the back plastic cover is flimsy and to take it off is not that easy.
7) the fast charge is good and really does charge at fast rate.

Overall - Would I buy it - Well the answer depends a lot on individual tastes. I prefer the Nexus series of phones. I just find the 4.95/5.00 inch screen a sweet spot for mobiles.
From my personal view I would not buy the mobile. I find it simply too heavy and too big to be carried in comfort but folks who prefer big phones, it is a very good option.

So when I was on the India rom, I had to use my pc. I got impatient and then upgraded to lollipop on the nordic rom. When I refreshed the India Kitkat rom, i got an OTA update option. Just got the latest update which was ~10mb and promised bug fixes.

Any one bought Xiaomi Mi 4i ? Any reviews?

I bought it for a friend and the fit and finish is superb. I kind of like the polycarbonate finish. Usage, I got no idea, as I used it only for a few minutes, but I liked what I saw. By the way, I am using the Mi4 myself and am very happy with the MIUI os.

Thanks for the response. I am in a dilemma on the processor - Snapdragon 615 - it's good for the price point, but wondering if it is fast enough on a 5" 1080 x 1920 screen.

It's certainly fast enough.

What you should be wondering about is the heat. There are a few reports of overheating when using heavy apps/games.
