I agree with AmitK26.
Plastics bring down the weight of the phone and do not interfere as much with the reception.
Besides metal will bend easily... plastic wont [and it's cheaper to replace if damaged.]

You can't compare a Samsung phone to Hyundai man.

When it comes to features, performance & reliability, the Galaxy S is a good phone.

Apple and Google have recognised Samsung's quality.

If you consider Vertus and the like premium phones, well i'd rather buy a car instead of that.:D

P.S : I am looking for Airtel MChek app for andriod. Anybody got a clue as to where i can find it and if its even been released?

mCheck app is not there in the android market. Try this, go to Applications on your phone, you should see something like "SIM Toolkit", open it and you should find mCheck there.

Has any of you tried installing froyo on samsung galaxy 3? I read in a couple of sites that this is very much possible. Looking for a real feedback from our gang. Also any idea when samsung will officially release froyo for galaxy 3?

Flip through the last 10 pages on this thread and you should find relevant posts. I remember seeing 'em.

hey guys i am thinking of buying Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, it has everything i need but the only problem is it cannot be upgraded to Android 2.3 :Frustrati. Please tell me what are the major differences between Froyo 2.2 and Gingerbread 2.3? Also can we configure other mail accounts such as hotmail and yahoo on android?

Any reason why Ace cannot be upgraded to 2.3?

AFAIK it is not mentioned anywhere and i read somewhere that Android 2.3 requires min 512MB RAM and the RAM inside Ace is not mentioned.

That was a rumour that 2.3 required atleast 512MB which is not true.
On a separate note, we may not see an official 2.3 upgrade from Samsung at all bcos they still haven't upgraded the Galaxy 3 to 2.2

Hence very skeptical about Samsung migrating Ace to 2.3

LG have put it on their website that they will eventually upgrade all LG Optimus One P500 phones to 2.3
I am wondering whether to go for it, as I will lose my "rooting" capabilities!

Get an Android Smartphone

Motorola Milestone has what ever you need except
1> Camera: Low Light quality is BAD and it has Digital zoom. The more you zoom, the more pixelated it gets.
2> Internal Memory: it has very low internal memory, but comes with an 8 GB mem Card.

alternatively you can get the Droid 2 Global [also by Motorola]
1> it has an 8 MP camera [Milestone has a 5 MP one] but it also has Digital Zoom only
2> and it comes with 8 GB of internal Memory with an SD card slot

but it'll definitely be over 25K

You can also consider the following phones
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro
Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro

I have the Milestone and am Very happy with it.

Sprucegoose,

Saw your reply just now - but have come to the same conclusion:).

Will consider the Motorola Milestone 2, the Nexus S (not launched in India) and the Xperia X10 Pro.

Motorola India says the Milestones available are the XT720, A853 & XT800.
The problem with the Nexus is build quality, other wise getting hold of a clean OS is a big plus.

Will let you know when I decide to decide quickly.

Seems Nokia has lost it; any smartphones on Win7?

Regards, drive safe

The following links should help you understand the difference between the two:

The build-in accounts setup do not support Yahoo and Hotmail but you sure do have apps for accessing them.

Question:
How does the Galaxy SL (I9003, Galaxy S with LCD display) stand against Optimus?
Based on feature, I thought 9003 is VFM offer, though I agree AMOLED is real good.

Please help getting rid of running apps.

I have galaxy s and i just updated to official froyo on AT&T. i have rooted it but the AT&T junk (Apps) is still there. I want to get read of those. How to?

Secondly, whenever i open an app, say browser, when i go to advanced task manager app, i see lots of other apps running in background which i haven't used at all and these are ones which i had stopped using task manager a while back. How to get rid of that? I didn't had this problem on rooted 2.1.

please advice. its driving me crazy

Orange Sanfrancisco anyday if you are willing to root it and install custom firmware. 2.3 is already out and I'm just waiting for a newer more stable build to arrive. The 2.2 builds are rock stable and the phone works really well. The screen is a treat for the price.

The Orange San Francisco seems to be the VFM phone at that price offering. Installing custom firmware - how easy is it? and there seems to be a lotta versions in the 2.2 build - now which version of 2.2 would be stable and efficient and offer a good battery life? or should I go for 2.3? and then again which version? very confusing.....

Cheers!

Is the Samsung Galaxy ace a 3g phone?? The vodafone website and Docomo do not list it as supported. Vodafone says it is a Wcdma, whatever thatis and the speed it supports would be the same as edge. I have this phone and now confused as to upgrade to galaxy 2

i downloaded the renamed brut maps from the link clevermax gave but its not installing. What now guys?help

S-ACE is a 3G phone for sure, that means it should be able to handle 3.6 Mbps (being HSDPA) on a capable network.

With BSNL 3G it is getting good speed (though no where near 3.6 Mbps) say upto 1.0 Mbps

Don't need to upgrade only for 3G

Cheers
