Exactly. Looking by what I've read online, I think Samsung is one of the worst when it comes to updates. |
One Plus stopped the invite system for some time now yes?
And Samsung i think pushes the monthly security updates very promptly.
I opened the amazon app for something else and it showed me Redmi 4A starts in 1:20. So I waited and just for the heck of it tried to purchase it. It went out of stock in less than 40 seconds..

OnePlus ditched the invite system with the OP3 last year and it was available easily most of the time.

Most of LG's phones have been impacted by the dreaded bootloop issue, which is the main apprehension i have about their phones.

Managed to grab one for in-law. Used some script from chrome app store.

This was my apprehension as well. My Nexus 5X didn't have a severe problem it but booted a couple of times overnight. The Huawei Nexus 6P is plagued by it.
Also, I know it is marketing but in the launch LG stressed upon specifically fixing the bootloop issue with additional quality checks.
They also mentioned their batteries were tested as per higher standards than competition. (Hint Samsung Note)

I have a Moto G4 play in family and it's going strong. Very decent.
In the same range do look at Lenovo K6 Power. Seems you are a Moto fan just like me, this K6 seems to have some soul of the Moto's software.

Try sometime with another providers sim. Looks like Jio specific, not very sure though. Could be some app misbehaving as well.

Search for emergency broadcasts in settings. Un-check all the options and that should stop these messages.
With the Samsung S8 I have been unable to figure out whether the stuff being sold on a 'presale' basis is dual SIM or not. Any gyan!

Please check the Samsung website. The listed model has a hybrid sim 2 slot, just like the S7 Edge. 2nd slot can be used for either a sim card,or a micro sd card.

Yes, it is Jio specific and seems to be affecting only OnePlus3/3T.
Sometimes, it sends information like the tower you are connected to instead of that 'null' string. On a recent trip to Shimla it kept beeping with 'Shimla'.
I have learned to ignore it.
I have a Moto G2 in the family, from which, we cannot sens any SMS.
I tried few different messaging apps but same issue.
I also tried using hangouts as the default app but no go.
I have tried factory reset and that did not help either.
Any clues?

This is not Jio specific and I get the same messages on my OP3 as well, which runs on Airtel. I think turning off the emergency broadcast options from Settings should do the trick.
