also, does anybody know what may be the date of launch of samsung galaxy nexus in India?

Alfa at Irla, 31,250 was the MRP.

In Thane, Paragon and Shreeji could be the best bet, they are located on Ram Maruti Road.

I was in a dilemma between Neo v and Galaxy Sl. Checked out reviews and finally decided on Galaxy sl. But i hadn't purchased it as yet. Now i see that its price has risen from 17.5k to 18.5k :(
Is it a good time now to buy this or any android in this price range ? Any new phones soon to be launched ? Should i hold on ?

SL is a decent phone and VFM. Superb 4 inch screen. There ends the goodies, very little support on XDA. Latest rom is 2.3.6 Gingerbread from samfirmware. Looks like that the end of the road for this device. Dont think it will get ICS.

I am getting good reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Y. Any first hand experience?

I had picked up a Galaxy Y sometime ago for my wife. Very good value for money. It has most features that are used everyday, except the cam and the screen quality. Its fairly quick, supports most apps, weighs under 100g and charges up quickly.

The only real downside is that the keys on the on-screen keyboard are little small. You need ur fingers to be super accurate to type. Most times, Swype does the trick. Are there any other keyboards in the market that have bigger keys that I can use?

Thinking of picking up the LG Optimus 2X. Its retailing at 20K both on Flipkart and Letsbuy. Does anyone have this and what's the review/feedback on the phone and the after sales support in Bangalore?

Sheel,

no man. try the dell XCD35/idea blade. long term ownership i cant say, but in 10k, it gets you a very mod friendly phone with a lovely screen man. the 320x240 screen of galaxy Y (otherwise quick enough n a nice battery) is just not good enough against the 480x800 screen.

I have this phone since a week now. As you rightly said, it has the Best screen under 10K. 480*800 resolution makes the experience out of the world. I dont need to zoom too much to read web content nor the edges of the icons appear crappy. I watched couple of AVI movies on this phone and it was too good to believe.

The only area this phone lags is the processor which for normal usage is descent but heavy gaming would be an issue. The camera is also average to say the least.

This phone is good for: Browsing, watching movies, GPS maps, dev friendly and light gaming. At 8.5K this is a real VFM.

I use my BSNL BB and many sites (like Facebook, Reverbnation etc) won't load on using my computers and android devices. But, can be accessed using proxies.

So, I would be happy if someone guides me on how to set up a proxy on my LG P500. Thanks in advance. :thumbs up

I won't believe you unless you prove all by yourself that LauncherPro works on my phone the way you mentioned. :uncontrol

Which kernel is the best for battery life on the SGS2 ? I am running Check ROM v4.

Or should I try a different ROM ? :D

I am a total newbie in this. So damn scared of moving on to another ROM. One of my friends on SGS shifted to custom ROM and lost the ability of calling :D.

I went through the XDA for this phone but did not encounter the stable GingerBread release, let alone ICE. But, I guess, its time for me to shift to custom ROM now

Can someone suggest a launcher other than Go, which allows multiple application shortcuts to placed in one go on one of the secondary home screens?
it gets painful dragging them one by one, and Go is very heavy on my poor x10.

^^ Try launcher Pro :thumbs up

All those who are using HTC Desire HD, which among the following ROMS do you suggest?

1) Android Revolution HD
2) MIUI
3) Cyanogenmod

Main priority is a good UI with better battery life (stock sucks!).

I don't know what you did but here is what 10 seconds showed me:
Official 2.3.5 ROM for ZTE Blade [GEN2] (11/10/11) - xda-developers
Elite Blade_Rom 2.3.5 (s2) [GEN3_to_GEN2] [OFICIAL ZTE] (16/11/11) - xda-developers
Ginger Stir Fry [Gen1 + Gen2] [ZTE 2.3.4 leak based rom] - xda-developers
ZTE Stock roms - xda-developers
[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the ZTE Blade :: V7.1.0 (9 Oct 2011) - xda-developers

find out which one is good/stable.

reg your friend - word of the day: baseband. (99%)

standard issue when one has not done enough homework :p

You could go for siyah kernal 2.3 or 2.4, you could set the voltage and set it to lulzactive with setcpu. I personally prefer 2.3. The other that's battery friendly is speed mod k16 kernal. Both offer excellent battery life and performance. Plan to try void.echo next.
