It does not say that it is available for the NEX (E mount). It should be possible with an adapter, but then I have to invest for the adapter as well.

Actually I need two cameras. Lens changing on the field is not for me.
So I will keep the D7000.
Moreover, there is no wired release for nex(intervalometer not possible. and wireless is too cumbersome to use for intervalometer).

I am actually going to make the D7000 the specialist cam. Use either fisheye, or a telephoto prime depending upon need.
On the NEX, I will use the 18-200

. This just intensifies the justification for more NEX lenses at least from other manufacturers other than Sony.

Well tamron is already out with the 18-200. So I guess more will follow.

did you look at this?

and

Also, why not take sony 18-200 instead of tamron 18-300? there is not a lot of difference and being a native lens, it might give you better performance.

Shh, don't give him such ideas. I don't want the MF lens market to go higher than it is already :D. I took the Nex 5 out on saturday to Baltimore

It's a wonderful lens, but I doubt it has an aperture ring (for adapting). Also, I am not too sure if it's available in the E mount.

I take that back, those remotes will not work. There are some DIY projects using IR sensor though.

Theres also iphone app that can do the trick. Am not sure if there is a droid equivalent.

Would this Tamron be ideal for Macro photography? Looks like it is an all round lens for every day use. I already feel that my camera with the Sigma 30mm lens has added a bit of weight. This zoom lens from Tamron weighs round about half a kil0. Not sure how the ergonomics would be if I use it on my NEX. If I purchase my next lens for my NEX 6, it will be a Macro between the 75 and 105mm focal length. Currently there is none for the NEX in that range. Hope to see one next year. My guess is that Sigma might bring in something!

Another crazy question: Why is that we have different mounts? It seems to me that only the metal that gets locked to the camera differs from the different mounts. The vöigtlander lenses has a curvy metal and the Sony E mount has sharp edges that gets docked to the camera. Is there anything else that differentiates the different mounts?

The connection between the lens and the camera body (electronics) will be different. Unless camera manufacturers make that open source (something like micro four thirds) it wont be compatible without an adaptor.

basically everything to make you buy more gadgets (different kinds of adaptors etc).

It is available in Sony Alpha mount so using Sony adapter should be usable.
Any way if one does not have adapter already then cost will go up.
So bad suggestion from me.

Did you try the WiFi connectivity on your 5R? Have you already explored the play memories? I tried couple times to set up my access point on the camera, after many tries I was finally able to get it. Feel's like the NEX 6 should have had the touch screen.

Does it not? I kind of remember reading somewhere that it has a touch screen. I like it on my OM-D as it makes reviewing images so easy. Though the screen response is on the poor side really. I guess it'll still take some iterations for them to put a screen as good as a decent smartphone.

The Sony website, the Amazon website claimed that the NEX 6 has a touch screen but it was dpreview that pointed out after their first field test that the NEX 6 does not have a touch screen.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Compact-I...rds=Sony+NEX+6

The Amazon link above states even today that there is a touch screen. The information is obviously pulled from the Sony content. I wish the NEX 6 had a touch screen and it really makes no sense not to have it with the camera being WiFi enabled and has a concept similar to an app store. When I had to type in my password for the WiFi connectivity, I realized the pain to go through the buttons to navigate between the words.

Tried taking some pics of fireworks yesterday night.

Heres couple of my efforts. 60s Exposure, lens at 12mm (eq. 24mm) with iso set at 200 and aperture of f16. I do not have a tripod yet so just rested the camera on the wall.

I did. and after a cople tries it worked. I was looking at it from TSK's perspective (5N). A remote will be convenient since turning the app on camera and phone and then them connecting takes a while. Touch screen is really good for quick focus changes.

I stumbled upon this website. It is a good guide to information on the currently available lens options for the E mount. Thought of sharing it here...

I will test out the WiFi on my NEX 6 tonight. Hope it isn't much of a hassle.
