thats a nice idea. The 1.8 Isuzu engine can easily handle a lot more. Has anyone does this before ? I would like to try that out myself but it would be better if I can get guidance from anyone who had tried that before.

I think HM did sale a version of Contessa with 1.8L Isuzu engine! It was marketed as Contessa Classic 1.8 or something.

yes.

It has twin headlights
power windows
central locking
power steering
a/c
pu seats

and best of all its a rear wheel drive.

A 1.8 Isuzu engine that can be modded to a a great extent and all this for just

under 1 lakh.

How I know? I was behind this project since 2 years. The price of a fully loaded well maintained Used contessa from HM dealer was quoted around 40k. plus all hte modifications were to cost me another 35K + paint+xenons.+ Huge alloys with spinners.

I'm not sure about hyd rates, but in bangalore, my friend sold a reasonably good nexia for 1.4 L (good running condition, but cracked windshield), 99 make i think, gas kit. So you should should be safe for around 1.4 i guess.

BTW , spares are available it seems, imported from malaysia or some such place, slightly costly, but the original parts were too. So nothing to complain about.

Nexia is anyday a better buy than the cielo.

In Ahmedabad in sometime around 2004 summer I cielo fully loaded with cd changer and spoiler and gas kit with clear papers was 75k negotiable.

A contessa petrol fully loaded(minus the spoiler and cd changer) was 38k.

the old siena was 1.60 and the ikon 1.6 version 1 1.98

frankly speaking if you want to sell the car quickly and not loose much amount then go for a maruti 800.

astra, conti, nexia, cielo and others will be hard to sell in the market in a short period of time.
