Fed up of BMW OSL Prestige in Kolkata; where in Delhi-NCR should I send my 330i?

Completely crestfallen and distraught by the extremely third grade service history with OSL Prestige of Kolkata (nearest BMW service from my hometown, 550kms away) I have finally decided after 9 years and 118,000kms to send my 330i for a comprehensive service & repairs 1500 kms away to NCR in a modicum of hope for a better service & faster delivery of car.

In OSL Kolkata the car takes a minimum of 30-40 days for the smallest of service - they are always out of inventory of parts for the E90 330i. And when they do eventually, it returns with shoddy electrical repairs and many times newly introduced faults.

With that in mind I sincerely request anyone with extensive experience of servicing of BMWs in NCR. Where should I send the car to, Bird Automotive or Deutsche motoren? Or the new Libra Autohaus?

Thank You and Warm Regards 🙏

Neither! It's not practical at all to send a 3-Series for a service 1500 km away. That's a 3000 km round trip

My suggestion = look for a good independent shop. Here are 2 recommendations from the Team-BHP Directory. Premium cars have been spotted there:

A V Designo (Bodywork, paint, repairs & modifications - A V Designo (Kolkata))

Alok Automobiles (Service, Repair & Body Work : Alok Automobiles (Kolkata))

Your car is anyway 9 years old. Independent is the way to go .

I second GTO on this. Look for a reliable and independent workshop in your area to avoid the hassle. If you must send your car to an authorized BMW workshop only, you may also check with the ones which are closest to your location - BMW Ranchi maybe? I would have suggested BMW Bhubaneswar as well but since it is owned by OSL Prestige, it doesn't makes sense.

Had Mail/ Phone communication with OSL for some of our company cars and I can understand. Others also share the same feedback. If you have always got the car serviced at Dealership then better continue doing so. In the unlikely event of anything going wrong, BMW is very supportive to the original owners who maintain at Dealerships, and they also give some discounts (certain things) depending on the age of Car

I will suggest you explore the possibility of using Ranchi dealership perhaps. In Delhi, Libra is closed and Bird is a hit or miss, no experience with Deutsche. But if you can bring the car to Chandigarh, I can definitely help

Thanks a lot for the insight you gave!

Btw Chandigarh is my birthplace and would love to make another visit happen even for servicing a car

Not to sound pessimistic, but I highly doubt that Titanium Autos in Ranchi will be able to do any better than OSL Prestige.
We too have suffered with poor service in East India, and had shifted to independent garages, as driving from Patna/Jamshedpur to New Delhi wasn’t a feasible option.
I’d recommend you to shift to a friendly neighbourhood garage that deals with Europeans in particular and not make a 3000 KM round trip just to ensure the car is in perfect nick, as there is a very high possibility of something breaking down in a 9 year old car during such a long journey in this heat.

In all honesty, the nonsense of a 550km highway stretch (in search of that "friendly neighbourhood garage") between the two largest business hubs of West Bengal (Kolkata and Siliguri) where there are more potholes than asphalt, there has been higher instances of the bmw breaking down. What I am trying to highlight is how bad the highway system of the state is. Trust me that 550km stretch is way worse than the 1500km Siliguri-Delhi route via Bihar & UP.

That being said, thanks a lot for your insight. I finally am considering what you and others said.

Could not agree more. After spending so much on your BMW, if it were me even I would be hesitant to service from a non-authorised dealer.

Maybe it's time to look for better alternatives rather than sticking to your current car.
