MSIL discontinues old swift. EDIT : New Swift LAUNCHED!

Note from Mod : GTO's Swift review has been uploaded at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread.

A couple of sites (motorbeam and a FB group) have reported that the production of old swift has been stopped.

Now luckily somehow I managed to have a word with a close associate of mine in MSIL just a few mins back and he admitted that the news is true.
EDIT: Another good news: The production of the all new Gen 2 swift HAS STARTED from July 5th.
Launch will be around August 10 and finally, there will be a ZDI variant.
All the current bookings will be transferred to the new model and bookings for the old model have been stopped.

No other information is available except for the one mentioned above.

Re: MSIL stops current swift production, new model to be launched in August

Thanks sid. Any news about them ramping up production for the new model ? Their current capacity was bursting at its seams.
Wont be surprised if they dont either, because no self respecting auto major these days seems to want their product to appear a dud, without unrealistic waiting periods.

Yes.. This may be some concrete information. I Visited Popular Maruti, Chennai yesterday and Sales person told me that there will be a new Swift coming this Aug End. They have started booking for some Customers if they are interested. When i asked him about the ZDI variant he is not sure about that.

Great news to start the day with! As usual its surprising ( MS strategy I guess) to have everyone speculating when the actual launch is close.

Cheers!

Superb news sidindica.

Hope MSIL brings the car as in UK without any localization of design, inside out.

It would be nice if they bring the newly tuned DDiS, which develops 190Nm at 1750rpm. The added drivability will be a big plus in the city. And I hope they don't delete that intercooler in the DDiS. Also, with rear wipe/ wash as well. And Airbags & ABS. Oh God! I do have a long list.

I wouldn't mind even if the all new Swift comes with 14" steel wheels. As long as Lenso Samurai is available. That said, the chances for 16" OEM alloys are very slim considering our roads and the stiff suspension setup of the car. 2 options are currently available in the UK for the all new Swift, 175/65R15 and as you said, the 185/55R16. So a 195/60R15 will fit nicely.

But all the others are very difficult or next to impossible to add outside the factory. So please Maruti, please!

A Z variant was not available with the DDiS, but only with the petrol till now. A ZDi will/ should add OEM alloys, Airbags, ABS, rear wipe/wash, music system etc for the Diesel as well. So much awaited.
