| ![]() Link to News Section The compact sedan segment is booming in India, what with over 20,000 examples of the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Tata Indigo eCS reaching dealership yards each month. Tata Motors, the car maker that spawned this segment with the Indigo eCS, is set to make another splash in this big volume space of the Indian car market in the next few months. The base of the new Tata compact sedan will be the Indigo Manza, a spacious and feature filled family sedan. ![]() Note: Tata Indigo Manza image used in this report is illustrative in nature. Rumours of Tata Motors working on a compact sedan version based on the Indigo Manza have been doing the rounds for a couple of years now. Team-BHP can now confirm that the first prototypes of the Tata Manza CS are ready to hit the testing circuit in and around Tata Motors' Pimpri factory, off Pune. According to the few details that Team-BHP's sources have revealed about the car, the Tata Manza CS' styling will be inspired by the 2014 Indica Vista facelift. The front end of the car will be more sharply styled, a departure from the smiley design that the current crop of Tata cars, barring say the Safari Storme feature. The boot is a stubby unit, similar to the one of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire and the Honda Brio Amaze compact sedans. The sub-4 meter Manza CS' rear end is said to closely resemble that of the Honda Amaze, a car against which the latest compact sedan will be benchmarked. Also, the short boot is said to give the Manza a stubby, notchback-like rear end. With on-road testing slated to start shortly, the Manza CS could hit Indian roads next year. It remains to be seen whether Tata Motors will unveil this product at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The positioning of the Tata Manza CS will be distinct of the Indigo eCS in that the Manza-based compact sedan will sit higher in Tata Motors' line up, sandwiched between the Indigo eCS and the full-size Manza sedan. Expect Tata Motors to price the Manza CS by about 40,000-50,000 rupees lesser than the full-sized Manza sedan. Engines are likely to be borrowed from the current Vista and Manza range. The focus for the Manza CS is said to be on diesel power, with the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbo diesel engine likely to be the main motor on offer. Tata Motors does have the 1.2 liter XETA petrol engine that it uses on the likes of the Tata Indica Vista and the Indigo eCS, that could be used on the the Manza CS too. Watch this space for spyshots and renders of Tata Motors' latest, under-development new car. Last edited by JayPrashanth : 17th October 2013 at 15:50. Reason: News Link Added |

May be, this derated Mill model can be used as the base variant offering in the CS line up, follwed by the 90 BHP and 200NM torque mills. All the Best Manza CS!. Finally, its seeing the light of the day after a 2 year hibernation in those highly in accessible ERC shops in TML.

| ![]() Finally, some concrete news on the Manza CS. This should've been out there in the market now. But better late than never. Quote:
Tata should also have a strong 1.2l petrol engine in their lineup. Something like the K-series from Maruti, which can service both the Vista 2014 and this Manza CS. With the diesel price increasing all the time, there will be a decent demand for the petrol engined cars, IMO. Last edited by safari_lover : 17th October 2013 at 19:05.

| ![]() A good move from Tata. Looks like the new top management team is exploring all possible ways to bring few more numbers. There are a numbers people looking for a compact sedan, Maruti sells more than 15K DZire and Honda Amaze clocks 6K. So Tata can easily attract few buyers. |

| ![]() TATA is desperately needs this product, even more than Vista face lift/enhancements. If they really see Amaze as a benchmark, they must provide a basic diesel model with ABS, just like Amaze. |

| ![]() Tata created this segment but their speed (lac of it) of introducing (or even face lifting) new products has given easy way for the competition. They took ages to bring in Strome and we all know how it is faring vis-a-vis competition. Same case here, competition has already moved ahead, its too late IMO and have serious doubts if this will bring them volumes. They need to quickly come out with their new products on all new platform. |

| ![]() Too late but never too little, if I have to believe these pictures, there seem to be clear attempt to revive the sales for the CS product line developed by Tatas (Indigo CS) and now with Manza CS. Few things if TML has addressed in this launch right from the very first day - Good pricing (Tata has championed this, but still need to consider the pricing carefully) - Niggle free behavior of machine (Seriously Tata, please take care of what you offer - Please look at Toyota the big "T") - Quality of interior fit and finish (Hyundai fit and finish can be considered Arrived right from day 1 whiles Tata will have to do a lot of work before reaching the benchmark set by players like Hyundai) - Paint quality (Tata is infamous for the paint quality, though some improvement is seen in the Manza and Vista paint jobs, there is still a long way to go) Cheers Last edited by i74js : 20th October 2013 at 23:22. |
