Body Graphics.Remember M800 had some sort of body graphics and two themes. But surely no one woukd want to go for an alto over an eon just because of body graphics.Maybe people who have already decided on the alto will.

Bluetooth and double din.Good.

Leather Seats in an alto!!!

Quick Move by Maruti! - But can they match the interior quality ?
Eon seems to be a real competitor of Alto (in Urban areas specifically).

Leaving apart the K Series engine - the Alto never got mature in India.

Quick move agreed, but will it be effective? IMHO. no. I am contemplating booking the Eon next week. OT, can this "effort" from MSIL not go in official jokes section?

I don't understand why there is a need to provide these frills on the Alto especially the top end versions? are these deal breaking features for a prospective customer - I don't think so!

Give me a basic Alto with an auto tranny and I am sold...

Re: Maruti's response to the Hyundai Eon : The Alto *Xplore*

So Maruti ready with its old wine in new bottle

I believe this will not work this time as Hyundai are ready with its product after a extensive research and is atleast a generation ahead of Alto.

It is only the pricing of Hyundai Eon which will be required to put last nail in coffin.

For Maruti it seems nothing is working right. First the Maruti strike going on and its rivals launching products after products and entering domains which were once a stronghold for Maruti.

There is only one hope for Maruti ie to reduce the price of A star and bring it to levels of Hyundai Eon. May be with a changes engine of 800cc. Maruti are u listening!!

Re: Maruti responds to the Hyundai Eon : The Alto *Xplore*

It seems that maruti management team is panicking and making a last ditch attempt to lure customers to buy Alto. I have heard Premier's and Ambassadors use to advertise when Maruti 800 was launched telling customer's whether they want to buy a toy or a car

Re: Maruti responds to the Hyundai Eon : The Alto *Xplore*

A star is already a dud in our market. Bringing it in to compete with the Eon might not work since its bound to carry its market failure tag along with it.

But a part of me still says that Eon pricing may not be that spectacular as being predicted. And to shake the Alto from its no. 1 Slot the pricing has to be bang in its territory model to model. A conscious buyer in that segment will always consider Maruti's renowned and specially cheap after sales servicing cost.

They all are trying to add that "X" factor..
But seriously. Airbags/ABS at the price point of the eon? I don't think there is a slim chance. EON is a ground up design so i'm sure the costs are well synergized since Hyundai would have gone ahead with a blue print of features vs a certain price point.
For maruti, re-engineering the existing car to provide the same features and level of fit and finish at a similar price point surely has to be expensive!
By the way...how does the current strike at maruti plants in manesar hit the production? Launching variants is one thing, delivering it is another!

Re: Maruti responds to the Hyundai Eon : The Alto *Xplore*

2 Din and Leather Seats.

MSIL is surely feeling the heat. Would have helped if they would have introduced atleast a driver side airbag instead of leather seats and double DIN music system.

For now, the Eon is way ahead compared to the Alto in terms of quality and features. It would be really interesting to see the sales of both the models.

Where does this leave the Spark then? It will probably get extinct now.

Re: Maruti responds to the Hyundai Eon : The Alto *Xplore*

Instead of introducing limited edition Altos at top end. By the look of EON, I don't think Alto is any where close to the build and quality of EON. Maruti should be re-positioning A-star to compete with EON, with 800 cc engine, new lower pricing points etc.. Till they come up with a more viable competitor for EON. Then push Alto to a lower pricing, 800 or Nano territory. That ways, they can make something viable out of A-star, which hardly sells here.

Re: Maruti responds to the Hyundai Eon : The Alto *Xplore*

Maruti is tryng to get noticed in a positive way because of its strikes and all . Swift if u book now has an atleast 6 mt wait the last time I checked so it is trying to show the public that all is well inside . Meanwhile other manufactures will profit from the lack of swift availibility and dealers will make a quick buck by charging a hefty premium alloting the car out of turn .
