i havent driven 1.6 optra ..but from what we read 7-8 kpl is too less even for a new car ...change the petrol station and see ...still if teh problem persists take it to a GM workshop as its still unders warranty ...

Hope you are driving properly

But according to Rudra, its pulls fabulously even in 5th gear; I mean, you dont need to shift down now and then.

the way i measure my fe is

i wait till low fuel indicator is constant and then i fill fuel

surprisingly, now im getting 10+! (checked with 10 litres in tank). there is some problem with the fuel indicator that shows slightly wrong values sometimes. this made me think that my fe is 7-8.

i hope im correct. fe of 10 is excellent for the royale. it has everything and the ride is very smooth

Thank you for clarifying.

What has been mentioned in post #4 in this thread is the best way to measure FE.

haha. The point is he made a mistake in his calculation and led us to think bad abt Optra. We all check mileage by trying brim to brim fill-up and checks.

Am aware of this but in the Optra the auto cuts out 10L before always.

I've had the same experience with the cut off...there's always space for at least 10 litres more. Also, for some reason I keep filling more than 60 litres, even though the manual says the tank capacity is 60 litres, and I don't wait till the last minute to fill up (I usually fill before the warning light shows).

Your petrol pump is goofing. It cant take more then 60 and when warnings not on how can you fill in 60 Litres when reserve itself is 5L??

If you want FE than you have bought the wrong car. You should have considered Maruti Baleno or City for FE, as Accent Petrol, Oprta, Ikon, Fusion, etc are not famous or known for their FE. You should not expect more than 10.

hey xtr21, in the 1K kms report of yours on 24Feb06

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/long-t...tml#post181719

you mention getting an FE of 10-11.

I guess once you use the fulltank-to-fulltank way of measuring FE, it should clear the confusion.
