Not sure what the Audio has, but its pretty much the same look and feel. The color of the semi circles do not change from Green , yellow to Red as you back up (I have seen that in the BMW). But its a standard equipment used in the VW family (might have cut down in the Vento to keep the cost down).

Is the RCD 310 available in India as an accessory?

Re: Volkswagen Vento Diesel Highline gets some more features

This happened in September I think? Lots of members including Ricky63 and ninjatalli have this version. I have seen ninja's in the flesh.

The RC310 with steering mounts is a good addition. The OE deck on the pre-refresh Vento doesn't even have a display to show the track name (all it displays is the folder no. and track no.) But I don't in all honesty think it warranted a price hike.

Also one unintended consequence of this move is that it makes the VW petrols even less attractive to buyers. All that IPL edition and Breeze business aside, those do NOT sell and de-speccing the petrols is a surefire way of drying up whatever pittance they notch up these days.

On the funny side, the car industry is turning out more like the commodity market (mobile phone like). What is best today, is deprecated tomorrow! The older you own the less relevant is becomes. In a way its good, but affects re-sale. The commodity market does not care about re-sale (who thinks of re-sale when you buy a mobile?), but autos have.

This is happening not just in the vento, but other good ones too like the City.

Re: Volkswagen Vento Diesel Highline gets some more features

Production of the updated Highline model started from August 2011 onwards. Additional features could be in part due to the Rapid as a minor differentiator. Useful features all, ones that the Vento should have had in the first place. Now the Vento stacks up pretty well on features viz-a-viz its competitors.

Picked up a refreshed Vento TDi Higline as soon as my friendly neighborhood VW dealer intimated. Delivery was in 7 days flat. Feels more complete with the small extra touches.

I dont think steering mounted controls and that audio system is available on petrol highline. I asked about it the last time and VW SA denied them being available on petrol highline.

Though it does come with breeze package - which includes a touchscreen ICE and park distance control - but certainly no steering mounted controls.

This is old news..infact I got this so called updated version on the first Navratra, and has been on sale since early - mid Sept.2011...how come you missed out ?

The title of the thread is a tad mis-leading as I just opened to see if I had already bought the car sometime back, and wanted to see if I missed on something ! No I missed nothing !!

Cheers

Exactly my thought, I also thought Vento has got some more features(other than the ones Ricky_63 already had on his car).

Sorry, it wasn't the RCD 310 which my friend installed in his Vento. It was the touchscreen one (dont know the model) which comes in the Jetta.

Funnily enough the VW Facebook page also talks about "new features in Vento" in a post dated sometime today. Weird!

They had silently upgraded it in September. (remember there was no announcement or communication to the media/press by VW back then)

Today, they made it official by making an official announcement of the same, in case prospective customers (who didn't know about these late-addition features) were wondering if the Vento diesels were VFM in comparison to the Skoda Rapid diesel due to be launched next week.

That would be my guess.
