Not sure if this has already been debated in this thread or anywhere else -

Can we have the sales split based on the price range ? I feel this would provide an insight into the Indian buyer sentiment more accurately especially in the sub 10 lakhs segment.

It would also reflect the competition between cars more clearly where a top end hatch competes with entry sedans and maybe outselling them
We would need data on pricing of each of the variants, their various discounts,etc. and also the pricing of the fuel variants so that petrol competes with petrol,etc.( I may probably have answered why such an analysis cannot be done !).

News flash on CNBC TV18 this morning:

Maruti Suzuki PV sales at 72,309, down 5.9% yoy
Total sales at 98,884, down 5% yoy
Domestic sales at 89478

I guess the month on month drop would be very drastic

If these are the figures for the country's leading car manufacturer, then the figures for others could be only worse.

Suzuki reports 5% down yoy.

The country's largest carmaker Maruti today reported 4.99 per cent fall in total sales at 98,884 units for May

Sales of the company's mini-segment cars, including the M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, fell by 29.03 per cent to 29,895 units during the month, from 42,125 units in May, 2011.

However, in the compact segment (comprising the Estilo, Swift and Ritz models), MSI witnessed a 14.66 per cent rise in sales to 24,290 units, from 21,185 units in the same month a year ago

Sales of MSI's DZiRE model increased by 63.77 per cent to 17,707 units in May, from 10,812 units in the same month last year.

MSI's mid-sized sedan SX4 sales slipped 85.01 per cent to 405 units last month, from 2,702 units in May 2011.
