Maruti launches special edition - Wagon R Pro

Maruti has launched a limited-edition Wagon R, the Wagon R Pro. It has the following features:
- USB Double Din Audio System
- Car Mats
- Rear Spoiler
- Car Perfume
- Bumper Protector
- Wheel Cover
- Side Moulding
- 4-Speaker Set
- Body Graphics
- New Seat Covers

The company claims that these accessories when purchased outside, cost Rs.30,000, but it is offering to customers at Rs.20,000 for a limited time.

Here is ACI's report on the same:

I see a Hero Honda act in this to push dwindling petrol only Wagon-R sales.

Re: Maruti launches special edition - Wagon R Pro

Considering the sales of petrol cars, it would have a chance to sell if they offered all of this at the existing price. I can imagine SAs at Maruti using this as a selling tactic already!

I see it as an attempt to push stock of cars and accessories that dont sell. After all, there is a much wider range to choose from, in the aftermarket.

Perfume as an OE accessory? What if I don't like the fragrance? Some things should be left to personal choice!

Re: Maruti launches special edition - Wagon R Pro

Forget perfume - I wonder who came up with these HORRIBLE stickers? For a second I thought the picture is not fully loaded and thats why its an pixellated.

Moreover - everything would be added at the dealership!

EDIT: Is it just me, or something wrong with that picture. looks like the wheel caps/ alloys have been copy pasted from somewhere (Looks like the same design in my old 2004 WagonR). And the used the same ones for front and rear. Rear looks like a disc instead of drum.

Moreover - the silhouette of the wheel on the other side is defenitly different from the ones on this side. Couldn't Maruti hire proper designers.

This "special edition" Wagon-R was available when I was car hunting in March 2012. I have myself seen such a display model at Popular Wheelers on SG Highway, near Sola fly-over. It seems Maruti is desperately trying to sell old wine in old bottle! This strategy is confusing because things like car mats, body graphics, music system, seat covers, etc. are always available in the market with better options compared to company-provided things.

Re: Maruti launches special edition - Wagon R Pro

I see 2 reasons for this stupidity : dwindling petrol sales and Manesar incident.

But yes, Maruti lives up to its reputation of providing cars with new stickers as facelifted models!

So, basically buy a silly looking car with a few overpriced OEM accessories for a discount of Rs. 10k.

These are items once all Maruti dealers used to give as free accessories and what some dealers give as free still.
The day is not far when Maruti would start giving a bike free with a car. A mutual win win situation for the car as well as bike manufacturers.
The car also appears to have sun control films which will be removed by the dealer free of any charge!

Leaving out the stickers,I liked maruti's idea behind this limited edition. Its offering all the essential accessories at a good price.

Something every salaried person looking for a new WagonR would want!

I bought a Wagon R last year in November. Of the above items a lot of it was thrown in as freebies by the sales guy thanks to some good negotiation from my company.

USB double din audio - i guess does not make much of a difference since ipod/smartphone is something well within grasp of many and i doubt if usb sticks are still being used. Aux in is more than sufficient

Car mats, bumper protector, wheel cover, 4 speaker set, seat covers (blue based) came free with the vehicle thanks to the sales guy

I can never see my car with body graphics unless it is a Team-BHP sticker

Rear spoiler cost me 4k and perfume obviously is based on one's choice. i got mine at 75 bucks, a bag with some lavender block. Beats the Poppy and Ambipure and lasts longer

I guess its just a push campaign by Maruti to offload more stock, although i must say the Wagon R does not need much pushing. It still is a good vehicle and the sales figures does prove that
Cheers

Re: Maruti launches special edition - Wagon R Pro

You can add these accessories (worth Rs.30000) to any Wagon R model @ Rs.20000 IMO.

Perfume? Is it a limited edition perfume?
Perhaps Maruti didn't get someone to have a second look at the stuff they were going to offer on the "Limited Edition" as R & D costs were already way over budget? And the Ad Photographer just hiked his fee, so they decided to do without him too. They just asked they ten year old kid next-door to do a PS job in exchange for some peanuts.
This has to be the silliest "Limited Edition" yet!

Re: Maruti launches special edition - Wagon R Pro

Maruti is out to make fool out of people who either have no time to spend on accessorizing or people who are willing to be fooled. The graphics are making the car look ugly IMO.

At least following should be added to the list to make it attractive:
1. Parking Sensors
2. Bluetooth connectivity
3. Better Tyres
4. Alloys

Car Perfume! Are they serious? From when did this become a feature?
