re: Honda to Launch BRIO Automatic by Diwali EDIT - Clear Pics on Pg 7 & 10

It is a good decision from Honda. But the diesel that they have been testing needed to come first. Brio diesel would have set the sales charts on fire, had they launched it during Diwali.

- Only V AT might be on offer. No confirmation on a S AT variant yet.

- Engine and tuning to remain the same as the manual Brio. Will be mated to a 5-speed CVT box.

- Expect price to be at around 5.75-5.80L, ex-showroom Delhi.

Would LOVE to see an automatic variant of the Jazz. That would make it hands down the best premium hatch in the market. Does anyone know if that is on the cards? I was also really looking forward to an automatic Polo being launched, especially after the rumors suggested so, but it looks like that that isn't happening after all either :-(

I have a feeling it will be the 1.2 with a CVT, no paddles, etc. This should be essentially the Thai version, which was also in the pictures of the Brio prior to the launch.

The AT is being highlighted in http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...-video-21.html and http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/offici...review-57.html as an aside for well over a month.

Will there be paddle-shift or triptronic? Otherwise, there are no steps (to say it is 5 speed) on CVT.

Ah, if only Honda had a Jazz with an Autobox. I would be driving an Honda now!

In my view Jazz is the perfect urban car in India. Its a shame it hasnt caught public fancy that much. Honda themselves are to blame here - they hardly advertise it.

Brio-AT is such a welcome car. I wish they had it when we were in the market (last Diwali). My dad bought the manual Brio but certainly I would have preferred him buying the AT for the convenience. The CVT AT might mean little to zero loss of FE which could be Brio's trump card.

Many years ago you may remember the announcement of a 1.5 Jazz, which was believed to be a precursor to the AT. The i.5 report was officially denied by Honda. The Jazz was also overpriced till recently.

It will also be lighter than the conventional box. However, I am not expecting any preset speeds.

Also, does anyone have the specs of the AT Brio? I saw the Thai site, it is in Thai so all I could see was that almost all option boxes were ticked.

No confirmation of paddle shifts yet. Might not get them.

Specs might be the same as the V MT. The AT will be around 25-30 kilos heavier.

This indeed is a great move. The thought of replacing my dad's 4 year old i10 auto is already in our mind. This will be a great replacement for our i10 auto.

For an expected price increase of 60K over a manual variant, i don't see a possibility of honda managing to include paddle shift. A paddle shift is a cool feature. You can tell others that you change gears by touch of a button .

A tiptronic variant is what i am expecting.

Give me the S(O) variant with AT and I shall be happy - please don't have the customer make a choice between AT and Airbag/ABS !

The Maruti Swift sedan AT doesn't let you have AT with airbags either.

Very strange. They can offer them but then produce them only on order if they are worried about low demand due to high price.
