Soon Multijet will rule

Fiat's 1.3L Multijet may soon become the largest selling Engine In India. The cars going for it are
1. Fiat Grande Punto
2. Suzuki swift
3. Aveo Diesel
4. All New Tata indica

Well I hope that this becomes the turning point for FIAT in India, and makes their India operations viable. I definitely want them to succeed and move from strength to strength, if not for any other reason, then just because I dont want to be forced to sell my GTX for lack of support. Now, how much more selfish could I sound...

Best of Luck FIAT!!

the fiat grande punto is a hot hatch. would like to see it in the diesel avatar in india. i think it'll give the swift and the getz good competition. lets see how fiat goes about this.

Everything is a speculation as of now. Only Swift diesel has been announced.

I agree with Mpower. I would be really surprised if the Aveo and TATA range of cars will be given this engine. I am sure Tata are working on their own DICOR engines and besides the multi-jet should be priceir then the DICOR and that will negate the VFM factor for Tata cars. So as of now, only the Swift apart from the entire Fiat range are scheduled to get this engine. But I hope Fiat brings in the 1.9L 120 and 130hp engine with 6 speed manual here. At least for the Grande Punto.

seems there are two multi-jet options...a 70bhp one and a 90bhp one.

And I was confused at this coz Tata's dicor is supposed to be 90bhp one.

yeah the 1.3l multijet will definitely be underpowered for the grand punto.it will be adequate for the swift though!!hope the 90bhp unit finds its place under the punto's hood.
with the multijet swift coming soon, hope hyundai gets a really good engine to plonk in their diesel getz!!

Infractions: 0/1 (10)

but suzuki is going to be manufacturing the multijet and will act a s a common vendor for the other vendors...this means that fiat might again lose because then maruti will be able to price their cars more competitively compared to fiat....

I did find an article in the latest issue of Autocar which covered the Geneva motor show, that TATA'S DICOR powered Indigo / Marina will come in 2 options as above 70 and 90 bhp..

Honestly think there might not be any 100+ bhp engines from these people due to our value for money mantra (Obsession ?). Moderate power and good mileage seems to rule..

How many of the 100bhp 1.6's have been sold.. not speaking only of Fiat here...

And why are the monsters (Read MUV / SUV in India) powered only by CRDi / CRDe /DICOR engines ranging from 102 bhp to 115 bhp (magical numbers ?).. while they genuninely deserve higher rated engines.....

Guys.. just too many options to leave the enthusiast fuming at their mouths...

There is no substitute for the cubic capacity! 1.9 JTD for Punto
