Based on the Polo hatchback, the new car flaunts bigger bumpers, black body cladding and silver roof rails that make the car look rugged and more aggressive. There are few other changes to the exterior detailing like the silver painted ORVMs and a new set of alloy-wheels. The interiors of the Cross Polo are similar to that of the top-end hatchback – all-black Livon upholstery and leather wraps for steering, gear-knob with chrome inserts.

The equipment list of the Cross Polo is based on the VW Highline trim and features like Climatronic AC, 2-Din music system with USB/AUX-in, SD-card slot, Bluetooth connectivity, rear parking sensors, ABS and front airbags are standard.

Don't think its competitive. I am wondering who would buy this car (target customer)? I am really confused.

Well the current polo has an elegant design, why spoil it with these black cladding? Must be the effect of the Ecosport.

At a time when car companies are spending so much on marketing/publicity, 'unveiling' events(latest trend),etc, why isn't there any excitement surrounding this launch from VW guys!!

Or or they expecting this to go the same way as the Fabia Scout!

I don't see a problem with the size of the CrossPolo, but they should look to launch it with better engine options to justify the segment they are targeting.

I believe MQB is a category owing to the standardization approach of manufacturing, and Golf a part of it.
To make profit from this approach, I think VW will have all their models based on MQB in future, including Polo; since MQB boasts of facilitating the switching between models. Manufacturing any car the MQB way would be save money

What are VW management upto? Are they on dope or something? 9 Lakhs on road for a 3 cylinder 1.2 litre engine and some cladding. Now the GT TSI looks such a VFM package in comparison.

I dont think there is anything really new enough to get any excitement going even if they tried.

Interesting news from someone senior at VW. Cross polo might see a 1.4 TSI in the near future.

True, the noise would be pretty much the same I guess.

A Cross Punto sounds more exciting.
While we are at it, lets ask for a Cross Punto Abarth or a Cross Punto Evo?

Lets start crossing every thing now!

Saw I today hen I went to get the paperwork for the Vento done. Not impressed in anyway.. :( it was, as most observed here, a Polo with some cladding.

Cosmetic changes are never an "upgrade." Especially ugly ones.

Why can't marketing departments realise this? The question they should ask themselves is, "Would an existing Polo owner want to change their car for this model?" I certainly would not.

The black cladding and bumper, reminds me of the Yeti when it had such hiddious styling. This two tone (cheap plasticy black) look would have been new in 1990.
Not sure about VW's tagline "The Polo just got Bolder", to me it got a lot uglier.
But at least they did not go the crazy with stickers like Maruti.
