Quoting GTO below from the Zest and Bolt thread.

Good to know that TBHP has spent almost a week test driving the Mobilio extensively. Let's give them another week to compile the comprehensive review and hope that by end of next week the exhaustive review would be up and running. No doubt it would be a quality review.

I think he meant spending a week on preparing the review report not one week test driving Mobilio!

I have seen the mobilio in a mall in Bangalore today and to be honest was shocked with the reviews on it sofar.

It seems such a compromise on everything that it's a shame it has Honda bade to it. The paper thin seats, the impossibility of a third person in both the middle and last rows , poor quality of dashboard and plastics ( has anyone noticed the USB adaptor that sticks out?) , the minion size road presence

Ertiga seems to have better interiors and looks like a proper vehicle and not a shoddy cheap job!

Are we Indians so mad of the Honda badge that we will buy any crap thrown at us with that name? How an anyone think of THIS, competing with Innova?

I was so carried away by the reviews to go see it and now am not even interested in a test drive!

@ nk, Thanks for your honest feedback.

This certainly CANNOT compete with the Innova, it is not in the same class in the first place.

As mentioned in this thread, this car will compete with the Ertiga on account of the bigger boot space, slightly more powerful and frugal engine (Honda's strength), better looking exteriors.

The real test versus Ertiga will come as to whether it can pull a full load of
people on inclines better than the Ertiga.

The losers may not be other MPVs, but sedans of both Maruti and Honda, as the price points are close, and people may think "why not a couple of extra seats ?"

Looks like the gaudy faux-wood will not be a part of the standard package. But the bad news is features like touchscreen, leather seats etc. will also become optional.

Details here: Autocar India

Re: Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29

Honda has started airing a new TVC for Mobilio in the regional language here in TN from today which was indeed catchy.

The advertisement states the headroom is improved with all other features like scooped/carved in seat back for front row seats. Any idea if the vehicle's height is more than that of Brio/Amaze.

Sorry if this question is already asked in the thread.

It's bad in the Ertiga and it's similar in the Mobilio only lower so feels less comfortable.
Is it maruti's mistake to provide such a long travel for the second row seats? Moreover, who will use the second row in the extreme backward position if there are people in third row? Common sense should prevail in these situations, and use just enough sace around you

If you read my earlier posts you will see that common sense had prevailed and I was saying exactly that till someone mentioned that last row in ertiga is comfortable with marginal adjustments to second row. Now your saying long travel so adjustment is not really marginal.

My point remains. Innova 3rd row more spacious than mobilio and ertiga whichever way you look at it. With or without adjusting middle row. Mobilio space slightly more than ertiga but 3rd row is lower height so sitting is not very comfy. Boot space in mobilio far better than ertiga.

This is what I have been trying to say but some people did not agree.

Honda seems to happy with Kapil Sharma and his style of work.

He seems to take over the Ad's related to the Mobilio. Hope these Ad's do some good to the sales.

Brio - 1500 mm

Amaze - 1505 mm

Mobilio - 1603 mm

So by the specifications, the Mobilio is 103 mm taller than the Brio whereas the Mobilio is 98 mm taller than the Amaze.

Most of the time there would hardly be people sitting the third row so maximum travel is given in the second row where the passengers can move around as required. It is not that the second row has to be fixed in the last rachet for maximum.

Very true. Infact, comparing an Innova to Mobilio/Ertiga is like comparing the Vento to a Corolla. In other markets where these two small MPVs are sold, the direct competition will be the smaller Avanza, not the Innova, which belongs to a segment above.

Had a dekko of mobilio yesterday at mantri mall yesterday.
-looks smashing from rear compared to ertiga. Somewhere like crv and BMW
- front seats are very comfy. But road view is better in ertiga
-rear split seats and can move both independently. But 3 rd passenger might not be as comfy as ertiga
-last row seats are split again. Very thouhgtful. Slightly more leg room than ertiga but very bad under thigh support. Best way to sit is "chakambatla(Kannada word)'' for adults
-boot is spacious than ertiga.
Overall very similar to ertiga with slight advantage. I hope they keep pricing in same range else it might not cause any tsunami

Re: Honda Mobilio (Brio-based MPV) coming soon? EDIT: pre-launch ad on p29

Today, I had been to Magnum Honda (Bangalore) and had a look at the vehicle.
My initial impressions (as compared to ertiga):
-ve points:
1) The driver sits at a much lower position. (Lower by MPV/MUV standards). Found it a bit odd.
2) The seats (especially the middle row and the last row) are quite hard and lack under thigh support to a major extent. These might be uncomfortable on long journeys.
+ve points:
1) The Luggage space is quite good.
2) The headroom is much more than ertiga in the third row and the seats are quite flexible.

Sure it's a compromise but when Honda was uncompromising they fell behind in sales. You can hardly blame a carmaker for doing in Rome as the Romans do. Look at the success of the City and Amaze - is it any surprise when they try and repeat the same?

Compelling price + Honda badge and reliability + frugal diesel engine = success.

As far as comparing with the Innova is concerned, the Mobilio will be half the price of the Toyota. I fail to see the comparison. As others have said, the Innova is in a different segment.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that the Mobilio, for all its faults, will be a hit. Imagine if they price it on par or even a little lower than the Ertiga?
