Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

Premium of 23k for these add-ons are not justified at all.
1. Double-din stereo with Bluetooth - 8k
2. Art leather seat covers - 5k
3. Rear roof spoiler - 3k
4. Steering wheel cover - 1k
5. Designer floor mats - 2k

altogether comes less than 20k. Not sure this will fetch any potential customers.

The Swift Star is available in both petrol and diesel guise. However, it will only be available on the base and middle trims at a premium of Rs 23,000.

Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

So is this another indication of the fall in sales? Why cant maruti think of better accessories at least? Come on MSIL, your limited editions feature nothing but aftermarket add-ons. At least given context why dont you choose better accessories at least? Touch screen HU with some good audio, or a proper leather interior? At least they will give some value to the limited edition crap, forget remapped engines or performance modifications.

Hope the new MD at least works out such flaws.

Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

Apparently Whatever Maruti does becomes a trend so i wont be surprised that even if this move makes no sense from VFM perspective, it will find quite a few takers.

Swift is overpriced from Day1, we all know that but that hasnt anyway dented the sales and fan following for this car. I don't think potential customers will really mind paying an extra of ~20K if they feel they get to see their car look smarter.

When Maruti starts making limited editions, it means only one thing, 'Sagging Sales'. Remember the Zen in 2001 (Classic ed & the 2 door Carbon & Steel) and the Esteem in 2002 (Ltd Ed).

Eagerly waiting for the March sales numbers now.

Swift for sure is having A bad time now! Earlier months of waiting for the new Gen swift used to drive people crazy. A few days back a local dealer advertised book now and get delivery of swift before 31st march. There seems to be a terrible slowdown in the market for new cars. Wonder what's in store for used cars!

Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

I think Maruti takes its limited editions too seriously and limits the features of the editions. The sum cost is never near equal to the money they charge for these features. They get away from this as most first time buyers visit them and they are easily explained how the extra amount they charge is value-for-money. I think every month the traditional discount they offer in the range of 10-30K is in terms of MGA and unless the buyer asks for cash discount, they get charged extra for the accessories.

My guess is that the Maruti dealers association is allowed to release these so-called limited editions without even the consensus from them. I may be wrong here.

Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

This is sheer insane. MSIL is releasing all its models with some or the other accessories under the term LIMITED EDITION.

Accessories provided are infact the basic ones which any other car owner would definitely install after the purchase. For example, how many of owners do you see without mats and stereo or in that case, some without steering covers.
What MSIL is doing is actually forcing a share of its buyers to but those accessories from them itself and earning a share in the profit.

I have stated earlier as well in the other "LIMITED" edition's thread, that I would be the happiest person, if the so-called limited edition was launched with performance mods or atleast with something that is a bit difficult to get after-market like a sun-roof or a different interior shade or maybe rear A.C. vents(I agree some cars don't need them, but its a Limited edition afterall) or in the flow.

Are you listening MSIL? No vinyls or designer floor mats make a limited edition vehicle.

Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

Not just sagging sales, but the problem is compounded by the high production numbers. MSIL has ramped up capacity for engines and models hoping for an ever-increasing sales. The slowdown means while the factory is putting out numbers merrily, the offtake is stalling. This is leading to inventory buildup setting off the alarm bells. Ergo, the attempts to capture mind share through the hype of limited editions.

Maruti enjoys a big advantage as compared to other car makers so this is probably first time they are seen sweating.

Ertiga surely is great product but they need a sedan and a mini suv to grab some market share

Swift is surely overpriced but instead of price cutting mode they should come up with newer products to keep customers excited and maintain market lead

Re: Maruti launches limited edition Swift - Swift Star

Maruti is wasting their time by launching limited editions for all their products. This shows that March is a dreadful month for the most popular car maker of India. This also shows that Maruti is going to be defeated by other manufacturers like Honda (when they launch the Amaze) Toyota,Hyundai Nissan,Renault etc. As this is for the V and L variants,They could have fitted ABS brakes and a driver airbag. At least that could have fetched some numbers for the Star.

Cheers,

Achyuth

Just wondering - what is "limited" in this edition? They got to be limited as they ain't gonna sell volume!
