re: If I could only own ONE car...

Money no bar - one car is not going to be enough.

For the camping and fun days - The Range Rover Vogue

For the days I want to be alone and just live to drive - Porsche Cayman
Phenomenal drive, every single time. I'm not a fan of convertibles, otherwise I would've chosen the Boxter.

For everyday practicality - Audi S4 and Volkswagen Polo GT TSi
Understated, powerful, comfortable

For the times when I might not want to drive, and to ferry about the other people - Toyota Innova

A sky blue(pearl effect) Range rover Evoque with a contrasting white roof(pearl effect) having all the features mentioned in the options list

or if my family doesnt approve of it then the Audi RS5 in white with all the options

re: If I could only own ONE car...

Wonderful choices guys, being a Mortal, I wish I had all the above listed drives in my Garage!!

Recently I test drove the VW Polo GT TSI and like the guy in the Indica Multi-jet add who has a silly grin plastered on his face, I had one for about 2 days!!

So, this had only cemented my craving for Volkswagen Scirocco R/2.0 TSI.

I would be greedy if I asked for anything more than:

265 PS (195 kW; 261 hp) @ 6,000

350 N·m (258 lb·ft) @ 2,500

re: If I could only own ONE car...

A red Range Rover Evoque fits the bill. If if really are in a fix for city drives a.k.a parking woes - get a small used car. Won't cost you a bomb and you'll save the RR for mile munching or late night excursions

re: If I could only own ONE car...

I'd pick either one of a Volvo S60 or a BMW 328i. They're both not only very, very lustworthy, but also would be great daily drivers. Not too large (I guess how "large" is defined is a very personal thing though), fast as a bat out of hell, and terrific in red! Either of them would have to be red, no two ways about that.

My one car garage would be a Range Rover Super Charged Autobiography.
Good looks- check!
Quick on the e-way- check!
Handling- i am yet to drive one and i do have my doubts.
Can take me to Ladakh- check! It will bring me back too, and all that in exceptional luxury. Serious off-road pedigree.
Enough space for the family- check check check!
Safety- check!
Road presence- talk about it!
Convenience in the city- well if i can haul myself, a Range Rover will hardly be an issue!
Fuel efficiency- i wouldn't really care if i could buy one.
And looking at the price of the new Range Rover, i would sell the spare wheel and buy my self a Polo GT TSI for those rare track days.

re: If I could only own ONE car...

I would probably just opt for the Fiat 500 Abarth and keep a low profile while having the most amount of fun.

Looks - Check
Performance - Check
Fun - Double Check

re: If I could only own ONE car...

It has to be Honda Civic for me. I know, its not in the same league as most other cars mentioned in this thread, but for me, its practical, very good engine, very decent FE and reasonable upkeep costs. It bowls me over & over again with its looks, both inside & outside.
The rock solid Honda (& Japanese) reliability is a major plus, as the thread title says that 'If I could only own one car...' which means realllyyyy long term (or forever) ownership.

Regards,
Saket

re: If I could only own ONE car...

With only one car in the garage, it would have to be good for the city (manageable size to park etc), good for the highways( stable and reliable) , and good for the great indian outdoors.(rough road package).
So with money no issue..range rover evoque.
Money is an issue..mars red ecoboost ecosport.

re: If I could only own ONE car...

Lamborghini Aventador.

Only 1 CAR .....it doesnt mention 'bikes' does it
So an aventador for late nights/early mornings and a BMW R1200R or a BMW k1300r for usual commuting.

re: If I could only own ONE car...

Porsche Cayanne Diesel 'S' . V8 Diesel with an exhaust note that rumbles like a petrol (Obviously with some artificial sounds much like the new M5)
Practicality, economy(FE not cost of the car) and agility in one package.

The Range Rover Autobiography would be a close second choice too. If only it were as quick and sporty as the above, I would pick this.

So does this mean you are chucking the M3 and following the one car policy since your Countryman S is coming home soon?
