Good to see the Ritz gaining marginal traction in sales via the Mumbai taxis. seen many new RItz's as black n yellow cabs in the city these days.

Nice roomy car for Tax usage as ingress/egress will be easier and good for tall passengers.

Luggage hauling capacity is a bit on the lower side but overall ride will be good.

If the rear-end in Ritz is sorted out, its a potential winner (It already sells >3K consistently). I know so many people like that car but don't buy because they are put off by its rear-end. It can easily exceed 5-6K per month if the rear is fixed.

The new Suzuki Swift will be launched in Europe and other developed markets by 2016, however we can expect it come to India by late 2016 or maybe even 2017.

This new Swift’s chassis has been designed keeping hybrid in mind. The Swift could even be powered by this new 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine if the Japanese manufacturer is looking at downsizing its current engines as it has been doing in the past.

IMO, 2017 may be a reasonable time for the arrival of New Swift. Suzuki may bring the YRA in 2016. If 2016 was targeted for new Swift, we should already have seen the spyshots, which is not the case.

It may use the same new lightweight platform Suzuki showcased in Geneva for YRA and IM-4.

But I am eagerly waiting for the (rear) face-lifted Ritz in India in 2015. Anyone has any update on that?

Since Suzuki has phased out the Splash (Ritz) from international markets , it looks to me there will not be a major change in the design of the Ritz here.
The facelift could be similar to those seen on Swift and Dzire with added features and bits of chrome thrown in but not really invest in changing the rear shape as expected by you.

At a later date Suzuki could think of developing an alternate to Ritz from the new platforms (iK-2/iM 4)

I agree; But seeing how Maruti modified Versa to give birth of Eeco to make it a successful model, I still think Maruti can make a move in that direction.

Don't be misguided by the pictures. Look at standard images. The Eeco & Versa share the same basic body shell.

Not only the body shell but practically everything else as well(san the engine).

Versa and Eeco has been nothing but just a re-badging exercise and offering a high priced dud into the market at a lower price point and for a completely different client profile!!

Agree. But I was not only referring to the chopped roof.

They modified the G13 engine to make it under-1200CC, and also made it very very drive-able in lower gears. This modified engine is India-specific, and is not used in any other model in India or abroad.

If Maruti can make such a change to an engine to save a single car, I was hoping a same kind of treatment to the Ritz as well.

But Ritz already has a good set of engines. I expect them to add some things like auto-folding mirrors and interior/exterior refresh like they did to the swift and maybe offer the same engines but in slightly different tune.

The main reason I see the Ritz not garnering enough numbers is for its 'shape'. The rear design once sorted out should get takers for that car. The design is a deal-breaker for some.

I had that car for 3 years but never regretted having it. It is one-under stated car IMO.

Re: Rumour: Next-gen Maruti Ritz and Swift coming in 2015 and 2017 respectively

New Swift and Swift Sport in 2017.

Suzuki will be working on introducing a new Swift and Swift Sport for 2017. The Swift will keep the current car’s dimensions but will be considerably lighter than the current car, while the Swift Sport will get a 10-15bhp power hike.

Quote:
Just like the current Sport, the new car will be positioned as value-for-money warm hatch.Feedback from Suzuki UK to bosses in Japan said British buyers like the car’s current package and price, and just a small power increase would be desirable. Britain’s is one of the Swift Sport’s largest markets worldwide with Brits buying around 1,200 cars a year.

Here is the 2017 Swift Rendered.

Reports from the UK have suggested the iK-2 will transition into a B-segment model that will represent a more practical alternative to the Swift, offering more space and value for money. Suzuki will thus have the liberty of making the Swift even more focused on driving dynamics

Photoshop experts believes the iK-2 previews the Swift and has operated some changes to the study in order to make it look more production ready.

1200 cars a year? Thats it?

It would sell a lot more in India and it is quite ridiculous that it hasn't been introduced in India. But Suzuki has always had a stepmotherly attitude towards its main market and cash cow.
