I thought that was only for the VX 4x4 (which they say in on-order but they do have the odd one here & there), all others are mostly available ex-stock except at certain times of the year

Its quite clear from some of the above posts that the 2.2L engine would be launched soon ,but are they going to give the safari a facelift atleast with the new engine option[thereby creating a new variant] something like their present Indigo stategy.

Or are they going to sell two similarly looking safari's having different engine configurations. If so would all variants [lx,ex,vx] get the new engine option as well as the old.

Give it normal safari the DICOR boost

Hey Guys,

What do u think...should TATA move the DICOR engine to the base versions of the safari...now that they are launching it with new engine...I think it makes good business sense...

TATA's are u listening...?

How sure are we about these 142bhp, 320Nm? I understand the Italian motorshow model had similar numbers.

However, after the Indica XL DICOR's deflating power and torque numbers, I am inclined to think the new 2.2L Safari engine will probably be rated at 110-120bhp unless it is equipped with intercooler/ turbo. The only advantage of the 2.2L in the end may be some weight reduction due to the smaller engine. I am speculating that this is the reason why TATA is not pushing ahead with the release soon.

I Disagree with you on this.. It does not make good business sense.. They will just release another variant..thereby giving more choices.. They will cover up the SUV market from prices ranging from 7L TCIC that is still available (on order) to the Dicor 3.0L ranging from 8L to 12L and the 2.2L ranging above it...
So anybodywho was pushed away from the sky high prices of a SUV (namely the Scorpio / Endeavour / Terracan / Tucson) will be more inclined to buy the Safari...

Hmm....

Godfather,

I think you are right but what i am saying is that they should discontinue the TCIC and put DICOR there....they can use the TCIC in the new Telcoline...I think they are using it already isnt it..???

Arrgh !! We want the DICOR engine in the Telcoline.. The 2.0L TCIC is way too underpowered for a vehicle of that size and characteristics.. Any Pickup is expected to be able to have a Pull factor. Telcoline is barely able to pull itself with the 2.0L heart.. Forget pulling anybody else..

Dealers seem to be throwing out all sorts of dates these days. I was told it will be April though I am not sure whether any of these dealers know for sure. If you go back to the first post of this thread, it was started sometime in June last year.

Hey man, SUV, could you give us any more information? Did anyone see the Indigo XL coming in January?

Cheerios.
