Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

IMHO Tata should wait for at least 6-8 months from the day Zest hits the road. That way, they can reassure people that the changes are not just skin deep and that TATA is here to stay. Also, their dealers can focus on one product at a time and deliver a better experience.

This all could also be a marketing gimmick , or he could genuinely be exhausted. But for sure, Zest is a hit ! And that means, Bolt will have to wait.
I visited a dealership in my town last week, it was definitely crowded, very unusual for a Tata dealership in my town. But i was surprised even then, they close the dealership by 5:30 pm. Also for a change, this time, other vehicles, like ARIA, STROME, XENON etc were also available for Demo and Test drive, so people were looking at them too. The Sales people were interested to explain the features of Zest, and seen encouraging onlookers to sit inside and experience the Zest.

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

Report from IAB mentions that the Bolt will be launched in Indonesia in February 2015

Quote:
The Bolt will be showcased at IIMS this month.

For the Indonesian market, only the petrol variant of the Bolt would go on sale. It is powered by Tata’s new 1.2-liter turbocharged Revotron petrol engine which is capable of producing 85 PS (83.8 bhp) and 140 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Thus, its pretty obvious that it will be launched in India, in or before January 2015.

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

Started seeing Zests on the road at my place. But my mind couldn't forego a strong reminiscence with the Indica/go.

Was wondering why the Bolt is been delayed and landed up on this thread?

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

I just had a glimpse of this one on Saturday at Royal Minakshi mall. I could not get a better picture as I was at the exit ramp and there were traffic waiting behind me.
To me this car looks quiet big in person.

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

I was about to post the review link, but I'm too late

Anyway, they say the Bolt is tweaked for slightly sportier handling and the gear ratios are tweaked for slightly better performance too. The Bolt looks promising. BTW, I hope that they ditch that funky orange interior tone and provide the beautiful all black interiors shown at the expo.

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

Why that 'in your face' orange in fascia?

I hope this isnt their production version and maintain the piano black theme from Zest.

Well, I agree that it's 'in your face' but I kind-of like it!
Looks better than the Figo's coral red (blue one was okay but still not to my liking) or Ritz's reddish dashboards which looked a bit too gaudy.
However, in the review they have overdone the HDR effect on the images, so may be the actual interior's look would be palatable.

Those tail-lamps are beautiful. Diesel+AMT would rock the hatchback market (it being the first mover)!

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

I like the Bolt better than Zest. Zest still has that curving in at the bottom vertically kind of feel that Tata has always been having. Diminishes the presence a bit. Hopefully Bolt will not have that.

I hope they give all black interior as the orange one looks tacky.

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

As mentioned in the Overdrive article, I tend to agree a separate passenger car brand can increase the sales numbers for Tata Motors.
If you look at it - Nano, Zest, Manza, Vista, Storme are all very very competent products but are under performing (Zest excluded- because its too early to tell). Why? people carry a huge negative perception for the Tata brand.

Is it too much to ask Tata to give interior colors which correspond to the exterior like many small car manufacturers offer in Europe. It would be a market first if Tata were to implement it.

Re: On the Tata Bolt Hatchback

Liked the coloured dash and door pads. Should be offered in multiple colours to go with the exteriors not just one colour as has been the trend of manufacturer. A dark interior for white and silver cars and a light interior for Dark coloured exteriors.
