Re: Tragic News! Karl Slym - MD of Tata Motors - passes away in Bangkok

Very Saddened to read the news. Tata's only hope of getting back in the market has ended I guess. Karl was known to be a passionate man for automobiles & was responsible for reviving GM fortunes in India. His death will set a lot of tougues wagging.

RIP Karl.

Shell shocked.

May his soul RIP.

Suicide? Any criticism in the board meeting led to it?

I am unable to digest this extremely saddening news. Shocking.

Just when things seemed better and he started the turnaround at Tata motors.

What a man he is! Very impressive personality and aspirational champion. My deep respects and condolences.

Re: Tragic News! Karl Slym - MD of Tata Motors - passes away in Bangkok

This is a pretty BAD news!! I was betting big on TATA Motors since he took over. Everything he did was just in the right direction for TATA Motors.

Rest assured, it's gonna be one hell of a task to find some one to fill up his void! Am just surprised at the report that he committed suicide. Did the job at TATA Motors lead to it? A backlash for trying to set things right in a company synonymous for government jobs and wrong practices?

May be we get to know more on what actually happened in the times to come. But indeed a sad news.
He was the MD of General Motors India when the scandal involving violation of pollution norms took place. According to Govt. committee formed to investigate the scandal, Karl was also probably involved in the "corporate fraud". Here's a report:

Sad news indeed and even more sad is the news of a suicide. There is definitely something more than meets the eye. Hope some good people are put in place for the investigations.

Big task ahead for Cyrus Mistry in finding a replacement for Karl and quickly.

I interacted with him for an hour, and observed him for a good 8 hours. I don't buy the suicide theory at all.

RIP Karl Slym. May god give your family the strength in this tragic time.

It is shocking to hear that he is dead and the police suspecting it to be a suicide.

Very Sad news indeed. May his soul find peace.

Any hint of foulplay in this, given that the circumstances has not been made public yet. He was trying to make some changes to the top management at the company. One of which was VRS for some of the senior management execs.

Re: Tragic News! Karl Slym - MD of Tata Motors - passes away in Bangkok

This is really shocking news. I couldn't believe what i am reading this morning.

Must be a great shock to Tata Motors. Lots of things he started may face problem due to his sudden exit. I was hoping that he will revive the Tata brand but sadly its not possible now.

I cant just digest the suicide part. what could be the reason for him to do suicide? The GM fraud is one thing but was it so serious to make him suicide? Work pressure can be one thing if this is really a suicide. Cant guess any more.

R.I.P. Karl.

While I agree that many are saddened to hear this news, I think, as a mark of respect for this man, it is better not to speculate the reason behind his death and also on reasons behind his suicide, if at all, until police complete their investigation. Let the law take its course. Not to hurt anyone, but just my thoughts.
