My best color would be White. Looks smashing with those black and white contrasts in the front as well as in the back. Will certainly find many takers.

It will be red for me.

I love bright red metallic shade on small cars. A well maintained 9 year old red polo still turns my head, every time. And then the montecarlo rapid!!

A lot of people want a sturdy well built, dynamically sorted car like the polo, but they stay away from the VW because it is just impractical, with the utterly poor rear legroom. Altroz could easily fill in the void. A 5 star rated car, Tata build, spacious and an engine that isn't a slouch.

I secretly pray that the red matches the bright red of polo. :)

Very true. Tata should get the turbo petrol engine and the DCT combo here ASAP. That would probably be a true modern hot hatch and the only real competition for Polo GT TSI for now.

Test drove the Altroz today as a nearby Tata motors dealer had set up camp within our office premises. Looked awesome in that Gold colour with black roof! Back seat was comfortable for 3 guys like me (weighing around 65-70 kg and around 5 ft 8 tall). Petrol engine was fairly silent and smooth with good initial torque. Gear shifts felt a bit notchy. Handling was good though ride quality was a bit firm. Brakes had good bite. AC did a good job of cooling the cabin. Sound systems were good with thumpy bass. Ingress egress was easy with those 90 degree opening doors.

Now coming to the things I've always feared about the Altroz. General consensus at our office from people who checked out the car was that they didn't find anything wow from it other than the design. Sadly, even with the 5 star GNCAP rating, people were equating safety with number of airbags. It seems as if for the world outside Team BHP, safety still means the number of airbags. General public is still not aware of other safety features and crash test ratings. The dealership executives were quoting a tentative price of around ₹9 lakhs OTR for the top variant. People were discussing how it would be better to buy Baleno/i20 or even Nexon/Venue at that price.

I fear prospective buyers who do not check out the car in person may still go the Maruti/Hyundai route based on hearsay and public opinion. Hope that Tata motors prices this sensibly :thumbs up

Tata need to get aggressive and specific about the safety test results. Generic 'safest car' mentions won't do much for the non-enthusiast gen-pop.

When your product has a genuine USP, why shy away from going all shout-from-the-rooftops about it?

Are you referring to sunset red of polo or the flash red? The one in Altroz being metallic appears similar to sunset red.

Sunset red is the recent one right? I was referring to flash red. The shade which has been here from the start.

It would be a shame if it is similar to sunset red. Red in tiago some how resembles flash red more than the sunset red.

The white looks the best, in my opinion. I have a red Tiago and the colour is kinda similar to my Tiago's berry red, am just done with the colour red. Imo, they should either introduce a more metallic red or discontinue the red altogether from the Tiago, i dont see many Tiagos in that colour as well.

Since Tiago is a good seller, i do see a lot of them, but very few i see are red, for some reason, so i don't think many will be disappointed with the decision.

6. I heard them talking about a feature called Battery management system which ensures that the battery doesn't run out of juice during long start stop situations. It fires up the engine if it detects that the accessories like audio, headlights, ac fan etc have drained the battery below a certain level.

Slightly confused on this. So if it's still in the traffic signal or maybe a traffic block and if there is drainage, the car will automatically start?

Tiago red is a bit more darker than Flash Red. It’s closer to Blushing Red on the i10. Polo is closer to the other red shade on the the same (don’t recall the name).

True! Just noticing it.

We don't get the polo's sexy bright red on Altroz too I guess. That red is striking, I guess it's the same in new swift too. Shame the new swift is a huge compromise on safety. If it was built well, it is indeed an amazing package for someone who isn't keen on AT box.

I also wonder why Tata skipped the light blue of Tiago and the caffeine brown of the tigor for the Altroz. Both are very classy colours when seen on both the cars on road. Well, it isn't possible to get the car out with 99 shades like TVS did with the scooty.

I'm a fan of red cars. But the red should be the one as in Polo, Punto, old gen Figo, current gen Swift, Hyundai Accent red and not like in Tiago, Altroz, i20, i10, old gen swifts,

A little late in the day - boot space in the Altroz.

Factory customization for those who don't like dealer level fitting is good.

XE and XM variants with Rhythm pack are interesting, they can turn out to be the most VFM of all the variants.

However factory level customization means one had to book and wait for the car to arrive, instead of readily picking up from the dealership's existing stock. Wonder how Tata will manage the logistics with minimal wait time, have seen people moving away to other options because of long wait times.
