Even a 20-30% of that figure comes out, it's a really good start for Abarth as a brand in India. It is obvious that the price would be high, as a CBU and can be expected to come down once they start assembling locally.

The Fiat Punto Evo Abarth. It too will get the 1.4-litre T-Jet motor, albeit in a slightly lower 135bhp state of tune.

The third car to get the Abarth treatment will be the Avventura, but the changes won’t be as significant as in the other two. The Avventura will get only the 135bhp T-Jet motor, without the accompanying suspension and visual changes that will come to the Punto Evo Abarth. It will look like the standard car, and rather than full-on Abarth branding, it will get a badge that says ‘Powered by Abarth’.

The 2015 Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione will be launched on August 4th at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, reports Motor Trend.

This vehicle will also mark the entry of the Abarth marque into the Indian automotive market. Powering the 595 Competizione will be a 1.4 litre, 4 cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that puts out a peak power figure of 160 bhp. Coupled to a 5 speed manual transmission and the Abarth tuned suspension used in this car, this setup will make the Abarth 595 an absolute joy to drive through tight bends.

However, your pockets will need to be deep as this car will initially be sold only via the CBU route and that will cause the price to nudge the INR 30 lakh mark. Fiat will be positioning it as a halo model in its fleet with features such as sports seats and huge 17 inch rims.

The "Abarth" branding might take the price to higher range on the Punto. I am thinking Punto Abarth with manual transmission will be priced on par with GT TSI at around 10L. Adding an automatic transmission on Punto Abarth could easily take the price beyond 10L bracket. I for one would love to see Punto Abarth with AMT pumping 135BHP which could give GT TSI a tough fight with that extra 30BHP. Its exciting to see competition lining up for GT TSI which was without a rival except for its TDI sibling.

Its official as the President and Managing Director, Kevin Flynn has send out the invite. The Abarth 595 competezione will be launched while the Abarth Punto will be showcased. The media drive is expected to be on the same day as per sources.

As great as the packaging of the performance, I see manufacturers are taking their customers for a ride in terms of features. Nearly Rs.30 Lakhs for the car and it comes with manual air conditioning!
