Much more logical to get the 1.4 tsi and price it at 2-3 lakhs premium to the GT tsi. IMO they should introduce the Audi A1 with 1.8 tsi around 19 if they really want a halo car rather than the Polo 1.8 at 17. Badge matters at that end of the market

One reason why VW should give us the manual gear box is because the manual gearbox version of the GTi puts out 320Nm of torque compared to the 250Nm put out by the DSG version.

I don't understand, how will a 1.4 TSI help save tax? AFAIK once you cross 1.2l in an under 4 meter petrol car you graduate to the regular tax slab. For diesel it's 1.5l.

The first article is an old one but I think the slabs have not changed since. Experts, please correct me if I am wrong here.

The most important tax is excise, which in the top slab can account for 1/4th of the cost:

From the recent Volkswagen announcement, looks like the Polo GTI isn't going to be showcased at the Auto Expo, might have to wait longer for this one.

Re: Spotted! VW Polo GTI with 1.8L TSI engine

Does that Polo have dual exhaust? Can't spot it from here. Probably because of the Beetle, the Polo GTI could just be launched with a 1.4 liter engine.

Surprised how there isn't any information on the car as of lately by any websites or blogs if the car is being showcased at the Auto show or not.

Ah! Looks like it is the same car, plates are similar. Been testing this one for quite a while. Hope they take the wraps of this one soon.

Experts please correct me if I am wrong here, but this looks like a 'Modified' Polo to me

The reasons I think so:

- The Polo GTI has always had turn indicators on ORVM but this one does not seem to have it.

- If you look closely, the HU seems to be the RCD 310(?) which is the one on all Polos/Ventos here.

However, if this is the way the GTI is going to look like when launched, I think it will be quite disappointing since there are many regular Polos plying on Indian roads, which look a lot similar to this

Is it the angle of the picture that is coming through like an indicator on the fender or is it really there?

Refer to the high-res pics on post #75.

Make no mistake - this is a GTI.

Are you referring to the reflector from the rear bumper bottom-left on the same pic above? These are given on the current models sold in India. Nothing new there.

Hard to notice but the turn indicators are very much present. Take a closer look at this snap.

It is the newer composition media based HU.

Re: Spotted! VW Polo GTI with 1.8L TSI engine

If it ends up around 30L what's the point? An A class or an X1 will run circles around it.

They will have to incorporate suspension components of the GTi or the Euro GT and then use a boosted 1.4 that they have in the Vento cup, good for 148 bhp with a dsg, manuals are too slow and so last century, double clutch units are faster, efficient and reliable now.
