Toyota is one of the greatest automakers in the world. I feel toyota is developing something already for India, but nothing might have published, I feel in 1 year from now some great launches we can see from Toyota. If not at least I will dream about it

Of late the toyota management is doing some good work for sure.
Lately A number of campaigns are being run for the present customers satisfaction.

Spares, network is being strengthened in full swing. Is this the preparation for a mass market car,not necessarily a small car but maybe something affordable to many more, dont know for sure ,but Toyota is definitely not in sleep mode right now, lots of behind the scenes work going on atleast.

I sincerely hope they do some thing real soon. Even though Honda is known for engine realiability, technology, resale etc.. Its the Toytoa that sets standards in a good balance of comfort, reliability, price, ..

Toyota Yaris and Vios look far better than the current corolla and NHC. Look at these!

While its a good thing that Toyota is claimed to be waking up, the fact that they gave a step-motherly treatment to India so far is a reflection of the stiff-upper-lipness they chose to don

My question to toyota india has always been

"How much marketshare toyota would be able to capture with a hatch, remember there are already competetors who are well set,and are producing great models and are able to produce products cheaper than toyota. We will also be having an avalanche of models with Nissan,VW,Honda too planning to join the party.

What we need is something bigger in the price range between 4.5-6.5 lakh on road price and having a diesel option as well within this price range. For this price range apart from hatches there are not many good choices for the customer right now,nor much planned for the future either"

Right said sreenivass, Toyota is great product for sure, ideal balance between every thing customer expects. You can't find out anything against Toyota I feel. We can find flaws with Honda although honda engine is known for its reliability but toyota is known for great balance.

Its just matter to make public aware about toyota products, if its comes with good product in India definately it will be great success. Toyota need to plan competitive pricing thats only the thing not good about toyota right now.

Regards,

Ravi.

Toyota all set for second plant in India

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) may invest Rs 2,000 cr in India for setting up its second plant in the country to achieve a sales of two lakh cars by 2010. It has received proposals from four states which are keen to provide land to the company for its second greenfield project.

As part of its growth strategy in India, TKM is also thinking of entering the small car segment to compete with Tata Motors, which has plans to roll out its Rs 1 lakh people’s car by 2008. At present, TKM offers premium (Corolla), luxury (Camry), SUV (Prado) and MPV (Innova) vehicles, but has no presence in small, compact and sedan segments

Offcourse we dont want a 1L car from Toyota Sometime back, I remember TKM saying they dont necessarily want to bring in a small car (read hatch).. My wish is Vios + a hatch (OK if its from the Diahatsu stable) would be a great!

Toyota need to get their models right here. A small car may take time to develop for the indian market. Their yaris will be too expensive even for getz/swift market.

They should reconsider getting the Vios. It's a direct match to the city. Even the optra and verna may get hit with the vios.

Next they need to see where the market hasnt developed. Funny thing is they have a perfect car for that spot but are failing to bring it in ASAP.

Their fortuner. With the new CRV priced close to 20L. There is a huge gap from almost 10 to 20L which no car is present in albeit the endeavour and the top of the line Innova.

If they get the fortuner they will take the whole market share away from even the CRV. The safari may also suffer.

It's a perfect time for them to get the Fortuner which has a very good 3.0L D-4d diesel engine.

They could even plonk in the 2.4L innovas engine for a base model.

They are being rather late on the Vios and the fortuner and are losing heavily in trying to sell cars which are not doing too good like the corolla and the innova.

Both are good cars but bothe have taken a beating one for its looks and the other cause its just a generation older and the newer gen honda has trumped it.

This is not true. Innova is more successful and sells more units than qualis.
Below is one of the many articles on this.
The Telegraph - Calcutta : Business

Anyways, I think it was a bold and intelligent decision from toyota to replace an oudated junk like qualis for innova.
I am not a very big fan of toyota, but atleast they are not flooding the indian market with old and outdated stuff.

Anyone knows what is the latest release plan on Fortuner? My neighbor when he heard the Fortuner news first, cancelled his booking of Tucson. Well, he is s t i l l waiting.

Today's Hindu reports that Toyota has started shooting TV commercials for a new Multi Purpose Vehicle codenamed NVX which is based on the Innova platform, has the same engine but different features. The report claims the vehicle will be launched later this year. Could this be the Fortuner?

Here's the link:
