Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Oh no...not again. Maruti Suzuki, I think we have enough of your Limited Editions. This one is truly limited. Please keep the numbers limited to 50 pan India. The less we see it, the better. This is my personal opinion. No offenses if you liked it.

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

I really don't understand what plan the designers had or what they were on when they thought out this scheme which looks so hideous that my eyes have begun watering out of fear of torture to eyes. The insides seem fine but the exteriors are absolutely garish and looks like the work of some guy on mspaint.

I find the interiors better in such limited edition variants.

I wouldn't mind having them in my Swift ZDi - seat covers, steering cover and gear shifter cover. Even the RS variant (Blue interiors) were good enough. Regarding the Exterior - I'll not comment as there are many here giving out the same opinion on different ways.

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Lol! This is much better than the dumb 'Windsong' edition though. IMO, the RS felt aesthetically right (Except for the tacky painted wheel caps), apart from that all the MSIL SE are more or less weird. Wagon R Primea could be an exception.

Proof that Maruti have finally employed a head of design. To keep costs down, they employed a local teenager from Gurgaon.

All it lacks are stickers proclaiming cc, bhp and (this is critical) - kmpl!

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Forget about buying something like this, I would like to be paid to sit in an embarrassing car like this ! I wonder what the morning briefing of designers is like. Even a kid can come up with better and mature looking designs.
Swift gory edition!

I am waiting for the day when limited editions are ones with better stickier tires, better air intake and tuned engines.

BTW how about adding some 4x4 , 4 valve , turbo stickers ?

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Maruti takes up such assignments ahead of festive seasons and they have now started using the festive names in the so called limited editions - "Onam".

Soon we will find
- Diwali edition
- Christmas edition
- Special new year edition

and later on with kinda new approach

- School results edition
- GRE / GMAT edition
- ToEFL edition
- Collage admission edition
- University edition

the list is endless !

May be during elections

- Election edition

Cheers; enjoy what the company is offering over and above the regular machine without any extra cost / VFM additions.

Rofl @ election edition. Think of a big broom painted on the top of a white car / a bright orange lotus on the hood of a green car / a hand on green and orange rally stripes.

I really want to see who buys this car. I am also sure I'll heckle the driver if I see one stopped / parked next to me.

As someone rightly called it, it's the Gory edition

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

I was watching the advertisement of the Swift Gory edition on TV and couldn't help notice.

The Swift gory edition backside features ABS stickers and even mentioned on IAB

But the car in the ad doesn't have ABS

Plus the car locks up all wheels and takes some time to stop watch from 29 seconds onwards

Soooo does it really have ABS? I tried checking MS website but it just had a lame animation of a garage door opening revealing the gory car and nothing else.

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Doesn't both V variants now come with ABS as standard? Assuming the Glory edition is based on the V variant, it should have ABS.

For locking up wheels, we still can use handbrake right?? Rather than using a non ABS version, that would be a better bet I guess.

Edit:: The car on the video looks like an LXi.

You can only lock up rear wheels with handbrake however the front wheels as well are locked up in the video

The badge clearly says VXi in the ad.

It's because Maruti only provides ABS on VDI and not on the VXI.
The car in the ad is a VXI.

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

What a joke! They call it sporty and show a young guy in a suit, like some young management guy who wants fun in his life. And the car in question question doesn't even have ABS! On what basis can they even remotely think of calling it sporty. Just because of decals! That's the lamest excuse I've ever come across!

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Rather than getting their Ad approved from the management, the Ad agency should first get it approved by a panel of T-BHPians.

But the only downside is that then we will be deprived of our share of liitle fun by finding flaws and making fun of Maruti and other manufacturer's Ads. Its too big a price to pay IMHO.
