Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

I for one, thank God that the edition is 'limited'!

Imagine the plight of a Swift enthusiast if the mainstream car had been made like this?

The buyer would then have to 'de-limit' his car and restore it to its original state

However, I agree that the niceness of the inside of the 'limited' edition has been masked by garishness on the outside!

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

C'mon MSIL! Clearly it's pitted against Abarth Punto considering all the sticker'ing. But seriously, that is what you come up with to steal away somebody's thunder. And if someone buys it then the car is only going to embarrass them more than anything whenever they take it out. MSIL, Suzuki has a 1.6 turbocharged engine. Bring that in along with the changes on the lines of what Fiat is doing. Then you can think of glory!

Didn't want to post, but then I thought of saying a famous one-liner to Maruti...

".....Beta, Tumse Na Ho Payega...."

Quote from the hindi movie: Gangs of Wasseypur 2
Translates to: "Son, you are not capable..." Err, whatta translation !

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Was just curious to know the premium MSIL charges for this Limited Edition. Just checked the prices (Ex-showroom, Cochin) on the MSIL website. The Limited Edition is listed a few thousands cheaper than the regular variants (VXi / VDi). Wonder why.

Well, Maruti them-self believe its a cheap mod, so...
I dont think though that its a skimmed milk model. Theyre just coinciding it with festive discount Govinda/Mr. T special , maybe.

Not sure what happened to Maruti? There was no need to pull down such a competent product with such a garish work. Their sticker job has made even Hero Motors blush

I do find this a decent offer except for the decals/stickers. If Maruti can give the same features in the regular variants then things should do good.

Just for a share, 2 of my colleagues have booked this variant as an upgrade from a 10 year old Hero Honda Splendor. The 'ZDi' variant was too much of a stretch hence they settled for it.
This is exactly why people end up buying the 'Limited' (overpriced) edition. In the old days, you'd sell it in the 'black market' for a higher price; It may be that a particular variant or a feature is unavailable (or is in demand), so the manufacturer uses this route to charge a premium. After getting over the 'premium' for the sticker, most will probably rip it off! [I'm sure the MASS will charge another 'premium' to remove it without voiding the warranty]

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

However garish, loud, gaudy this might look.
THIS WILL SELL. Reasons:
Junta loves the swift and finds it reliable, but at the same time its getting very common on roads.
Initially the body customization option of the "RS" impressed the buyers. That trick worked.
After the "BENTLEY" chrome grille on the swift's went in majority, buyers again want something else to stand out.
So this will definitely work for the tasteless mortals.

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

This should be named Swift 'Gory' rather than Glory!

It boggles my mind just looking at the picture. Why not actually hire someone with some taste to really design well, rather than coming out with this contraption!

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

And they've done it again!

Lose the stars in the stripes and change the gaudy red to a matt silver and this may just change this from looking atrocious to a bit decent.

BTW, will this every stop, Maruti? These really avoidable limited editions churning out from your design departments?

There's no point in ranting about it, I guess. Everyone knows the answer.

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

The successor to the legendary Swift RS is here. Why is everyone complaining? Maruti has also privileged us " city commuters" with ABS which according to Maruti is only for Highways. How concerning of them!

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

The saving grace is this Edition is a 'Limited' one. We will see less number of these atrociously stickered vehicles...

This...after the Crappy RS and Windsong editions. When will MS start rolling out the high powered diesels and the turbo petrols in their hatchbacks??!?

Re: Maruti launches the loud & garish Swift Glory (limited edition)

Every time Maruti (or any other manufacturer) launches a limited edition, they get a lot of bashing.
They just launch it to attract people who do not like plain looks on their cars. Sometimes, the stock clearance "limited editions" carry just a few extras that can even be added after market. All these are just marketing ideas to keep a brand alive and in the news.
Every time they cannot go on launching a new engine! Few people would actually want it. How many people would actually go out and buy, if Swift is launched with a 2.0L diesel engine at 15L OTR?!
The red stickers will sell to some extent. Even if they don't sell, they will remove the stickers and sell as normal version. But they cannot invest a lot of money into launching a limited edition version. Maruti is not a luxury manufacturer that charges the price of a 5BHK villa for a car!
