Datsun Redigo production version spied

This new model will use the same Renault-Nissan CMF-A platform that underpins the recently launched Renault Kwid. As seen from the spy photo, the Redigo like the Kwid, will get crossover-like styling but will look different and will receive Datsun family styling touches. The doors, however, look like the ones seen on the Kwid.

The production version of the Redigo will come with the same three-cylinder 800cc engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Like the Kwid, the Redigo may get an AMT gearbox in the future. It will also carry forward the same wheel and tyre size as on the Kwid – this means it will come with three lug-nut set-up as well. Going by the lower position of Datsun in the Renault-Nissan alliance, it is safe to assume that the production Redigo will be more aggressively priced than the Kwid.

Spotted a test car yesterday evening in Mount Road, Chennai.

Interiors were fully camouflaged. By rough estimation (on first glance), the dimension of the car looks on par with Hyundai i10. Headlamp layout similar to Celerio. Ultra thin Exhaust tail pipe (haven’t seen such a thin pipe in any automobile thus far). Black grill and looks exactly like what’s seen in “GO”.

Datsun Redi-Go production version spied. Posts moved to a new thread.

Redi-Go Spotted again. This time the front has been snapped.

With THAT front, it looks like just another random hatchback. Maybe once the camo comes off, it might look better. Untill then, Yawn!

Datsun Redi-Go has been spotted testing in Bangalore - and that is a good thing. They certainly have picked the right city for it, given the market positioning (as a compact urban crossover) and the state of Bangalore roads (badly broken).

One question comes to mind though - Why? Why are they sinking money into this project at all?

I was able to click few pictures of this small car today. Not able to identify the car. The back door handle looks like Chevy's next gen beat.

Datsun Redi-Go (top trim level?) with roof rails spotted

A Datsun Redi-Go test mule with roof rails has been spotted by a reader of Motor Vikatan magazine. This car is either a top variant or comes with optional accessories.

Apart from the roof rails, one can also notice the LED high-mounted stop lamp (third brake light) mounted on what looks like an integrated roof-spoiler in the second picture. Surprisingly, one can also spot a regular high-mounted stop lamp at the top of the rear glass. The seats closely resemble those found on the Renault Kwid. The rear bumper also looks suspiciously similar to that of the Kwid:

The article basically states that Datsun will launch the Redi-Go soon, and that it would share the Renault Kwid's chassis and 3-pot 0.8 litre engine. Apart from the visual differences, it may come with lower equipment levels and hence be positioned below its sibling from Renault (as Datsun happens to be the budget brand in the Renault-Nissan Alliance).

They claim the Redi-Go appears taller than the Kwid at first sight, but believe this is mainly because of the visual effect of those roof rails. However, they wouldn't be surprised if the Redi-Go's ground clearance is slightly more than that of the Kwid (which itself has a very generous GC of 180 mm). The above snaps were taken in Chennai by Motor Vikatan reader Jeyaraj.

Off-topic: Datsun's stupid test driver doesn't appear to be wearing his seat-belt, and the person riding the two-wheeler (whose pillion rider has taken these photos) is certainly not wearing a helmet! :Frustrati

Did not expect another of the rebadged products coming out of Nissan-Renault alliance. Last heard was that they would not come up with more of such products but this news seems to be otherwise.

However it looks like a good move in terms of the Kwid-RediGo package is concerned. The Kwid is already one of the most popular entry level hatch and if it is flanked by a similar product it would just add some decent volumes to the car maker.:thumbs up

Also this could provide the launch pad for the Datsun brand which has been struggling till now with the Go siblings with only the Go+ gaining some interest from the customers. Ultimately if they could sell 10k of Kwid and 5k of RediGo then it would make some great business logic!clap:

Datsun Redi-GO to Be Launched on April 14.

Unable to stir up the entry-level car segment with the GO and GO+ will the Redi-GO break the Jinx.

Talking about the specifications, the Datsun Redi-GO is based on the same CMF-A low cost platform as the Renault Kwid and will be sharing a host of details with its French cousin. The Redi-GO is suspected to get the same 800cc three-cylinder petrol motor under the hood, while a 5-speed manual transmission will be offered as standard. The Redi-GO will also be produced at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant at Oragadam, Tamil Nadu.

This is not a case of rebadging like Pulse and Duster, but a new car built on the same platform - just like they said during the launch of Kwid. The Redi-go will hardly bear any resemblance to the Kwid, externally.

That looks like a re-done Indica :uncontrol:uncontrol

Nissan is reported to have developed a new diesel engine that could be used in the upcoming Datsun Redi-Go hatchback. This new engine is rumoured to be a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder unit that produces around 55 BHP.

From the spy pics, the car looks seriously under-tyre'd.
But then all cars in this segment are.

Datsun India continues teasing its upcoming hatchback - will rival the KWID.
