- Camouflaged facelift Etios spotted on test in India

Looks like the facelifted Etios ( Earlier launched in Brazil) is coming to India. Expect a festive season launch.

A lightly camouflaged ( exterior and interior) Etios was sptted today in the busy airport road. Could not take more clearer pictures but noticed the dash was too taped.

When launched in India it is likely to be in line with the Brazilian facelift- a mild exterior, a new steering wheel with controls like cruise, etc a new digital instrument cluster , slightly tuned engine for better FE. Six speed MT and 4 speed AT is likely to come too in this facelift.

Re: Toyota Etios : Test Drive & Review

@Volkman
Thanks.
@ Toyota
No Thanks!!

Why bother. Its such a waste for such needless facelifts.
The major grouse points still remains

1) The uninspiring face and form remains
2) The central speedo console is evident
3) Slapping a crome strip in the boot wont win any beauty contests
4) Cruise control may be the only good add on. But then this would be in the top version which anyways would be "Toyota" expensive.

Extremely disappointed from the spy pics!!

OMG. Toyota won't give up on the Etios will it ?
Its like India has hurt the mighty Toyota's ego and they just won't accept it.
Please bring in the Vios and we will love you back. Learn from Hyundai if you need an example !

Re: Toyota Etios : Test Drive & Review

Looks like the Facelift Etios will have a Baleno like grille design with a prominent 'V' cut in the grille, and more chrome in the rear. Duh!

While the 10bhp bump in the petrol, an extra cog in the petrol transmission, cruise control and all new digital instrument cluster are all fine, but its been 6 years Toyota.!!!
6 years.

And if the rumours were right, Toyota was to bring the Etios with an all new 'tophat' in 2017. That is next year. So why the sudden facelift for India???

Since, Toyota seems to be adamant on not changing the dashboard, they could very well bump up the power in the 1.4 D4d to Corolla levels along with the petrol engine.

Re: Toyota Etios : Test Drive & Review

If Toyota were really listening to the Market/Customers, they would have
1. Moved the Speedo Console to where it should actually be!
2. Added a few goodies like Armrest / Rear AC vents.
3. Replaced the headlamps cluster with a modern looking one.
4. Improved a bit on plastic quality.

Adding these to the existing niceties in Etios, I believe the Etios could have attracted more individual buyers. Indica Vista ditched the central placement of speedo console, and Amaze finally got rid of basic interiors. Etios still continues with both Central Speedo Setup and bare basic interiors! And these has been the major repelling factors for individual buyers. So here I am not able to understand what is achieved by fixing bumpers/grills/steering wheel?
IMO this facelift is similar to what Hero does to the Splendor every third month!

If Toyota is not planning an All New Etios in sometime, this definitely is a lost opportunity by them!

Why should they?
I have met a few Etios & Liva owners who are very happy with the above points.
They even went on to point out the multiple advantages of central mounted console.

Re: Toyota Etios : Test Drive & Review

With taxi aggregators like Uber and OLA, competing fiercely, Toyota's reliability and fuss free ownership should appeal to the majority, leave alone the centre console and very average plastics.

I was waiting for the vios to be launched though (2017 is coming) http://www.team-bhp.com/news/rumour-...dan-india-2017

What makes you shocked???
Are the dials located such that it can't be seen at all during driving?
Just the way you move your eyes down to see the dials in your car, I move my eyes to the left in an Etios. What's the big deal?
I believe it's all in the mind. We are used to seeing dials at a certain position, so the one in Etios sure seems awkward.
When I was researching for a car in 2012 and zeroed in on Liva since it satisfied all my requirements, this centre console thing didn't give me sleepless nights.
Once you start driving do you always keep your eyes on the dials or on the road? Once in a while we look at the dials and the present position is absolutely comfortable. All owners of Etios can vouch for that.
And to add, ofcourse I find an advantage that I get a much better view of the road with my driving position of seat pushed back and steering at the lowest position.

Yes. For me it was the single biggest factor why i did not chose the Liva.
That was a big deal. Atleast for me, and some of my friends who felt the same.

If you like the center console, thats good for you.

Let us not start the age old arguments over this, with the cliche points like why Toyota gives driver mounted consoles in all it's other cars in India like Corolla,Innova, fortuner, camry or How central consoles help keep driver focus on driving. We have seen enough of these discussions.

So, let us agree to disagree.

No no, let's agree to agree

My only disagreement was why the "eek" and "shocked" for people who are ok with their Etios experience.

Why shouldn't they?
Did I say the Central placement of Speedo console is troublesome/ugly/needs immediate replacement?
Did I say the Headlamp cluster in Etios/Liva are not dutiful, and must be upgraded?

And then, what fault did the Steering wheel/ Bumper had which needed an update?

Bro, let me explain with an example:
Back in 2005 when I bought the Bajaj Avenger from first batch, it did not had a Fuel Gauge and Engine Kill switch. Add to it the weird placement of Key Console below the fuel tank, and I (and all Avenger owners then) were found doing a unique "Yoga Position" at every signal which took more than 50-60 seconds and required an engine stop.
The very next update on Avenger included an Engine Kill switch, and the All new Avenger (with 200 cc DTSi engine) got the fuel gauge too! Benefit? The bike became more "complete" with useful feature updates.
After 11 years and 80k kilometers of riding, I still do not feel Avenger severely lacks any of such updates, but definitely those were good to have features - and I still do the strange Yoga position to kill the engine at longer stops!

There are very nice examples of an apt and meaningful Product Update in the Indian Car scene. No one questions the reliability and practicality of Etios/Liva - just that they could have been little more sophisticated. You can read the Team Bhp and other reviews of the duo, and the majority feels speedo cluster is awkwardly positioned. I myself rejected Etios (petrol, top end) just due to this (and barebasic interiors), and settled for Honda City.

I guess you didnt understand the sarcasm in my post.
Anyways, just like you rejected the Etios, 4 years back i too rejected the Liva. For the same reason.

You mentioned that this was the single most important factor for you to reject Liva, so that's your decision and no one will question that.

Similarly, If the owners are happy and found advantages with that, Why do you need to get 'Eeked' and 'Shocked'?
